  1. Can I Use That Picture?

This is a pretty good guide for determining whether you can use an image or not. Original blog post and larger format guide here: The Visual Communication Guy Cheers! -g-
  2. Copyright Conundrum

Marlene -- yes, I could go that route, but it might take a while longer than we can afford on this project. Naturally, if the stakes are too high, I would insist on it, though. Client just sent over the shovels, so I am setting up a photo shoot.... still would like to hear what others think, though.
  3. Copyright Conundrum

I am in the middle of a project for a client who has given me several photos of shovels to use in a suitability matrix grid sign. This matrix would, ideally, have the manufacturer's name/type of the shovel, the photo of the shovel, specific intended use for each shovel, attributes of each shovel...
  4. copyright question

Also, a copyright does not need to be 'active' to be protected. It is protected, regardless of visibility in the marketplace, for a specific length of time (what is it, 3,000 years, now?). You might be thinking of a trademark. -g-
  5. Consistently Crushed Cores/Media with Orajet Media

We use Feller's, too -- sometimes we get double-boxes, other times, not -- like I mentioned, though, I doubt it's ashipping/distributor issue, as the boxes pass visual inspection and the plastic standoffs are fine (but difficult to remove) -- I know in the other thread re: reflective materials...
  6. Consistently Crushed Cores/Media with Orajet Media

Hi there, has anyone else been having issues with Oracal/Orajet cores and some of the media being crushed: The boxes/plastic stand-offs are undamaged, so I don't think it's a distributor/shipping issue. -g-

MagnetKing.com, absolutely -- great service, great products.
  12. Sign Madness

I was just trying to enjoy a week off in DC. You can't run away from yourself, apparently. Good keming, there. Fancy measurements. Everyone in our group was fined $25 for not skating. On the metro; more things you must not not do. Type salvation was obtained at the Air & Space Museum...
  13. Illustrator CS5 file saving question

There's a discussion about this on Adobe's forums -- basically, AI wants to save files as PDFs, and throws a bunch of stuff in there (preview) -- turn this off and the file sizes are much smaller, and save quicker, too. I'm away from my computer right now else I'd find the discussion. Cheers!
  14. Help needed on deciding between dc4sx and sp300i

Summa DC4 Hi -- we have a DC4sx, and love it. That being said, I love my five-year old son, but sometimes he does stuff that makes me scratch my head. Here are some details (pros/cons) about the DC4: - often uses a separate ribbon for OptiTrac marks (some colors cannot be read by the sensor)...
  15. Alternate Use for a Flatbed Printer

Hi all (especially Artbot, who seems to be the master of reconfiguring printers) -- do you know if there is a way to use your uv flatbed as a direct-to-screen printer, where you could print the stencil onto the screen (eliminating the need for films, and possibly the exposure)? I've seen...

    Thank you, kindly.

  18. Looking to buy a flat bed

Uv led Any idea if CET is going to adopt LED curing in their machines? Are there severe disadvantages to LED over std. bulbs?
  19. Panel Saw Kit (that works!)

    That's very cool!
  20. Flatbed Solvent Printers

Thanks for the replies -- I'll have to get some samples printed to see what kind of distortion (if any) will happen -- a big portion of our work (currently screen-printed) is double sided, so I don't think roll printing would work due to registration issues. In any case, now that Mardi Gras is...
