I did a job similar to that, recently, using InDesign -- unfortunately, you can't get the variable spacing as shown in your comp -- but you can make an initial job with x-up, export that as PDF or eps, and then make another layout with those images. Sending this msg from my phone; can respond...

I couldn't agree more -- I have a DC4sx and a 30" cutter -- both are tanks, and tech support really knows their stuff -- kudos! -g-

Thanks for the reply -- eventually we will be running a DC4 and the DC4sx -- I wasn't thinking we would run them from the same machine, but would like to know if that is possible. We also have one of the vinyl cutters and might want to run it along-side one of the DC4s. -g-

We're pushing design through Adobe CS (5 and 6); the Summa DC4sx is run by ColorControl, the vinyl cutter (another Summa) is being run by FlexiStarter -- what's the minimum Flexi version (and cost) required to run the DC4sx -- and can it run two DC4 machines? thanks!! -g-

Is it possible to use FlexiStarter or any of the Flexi products to run the DC4sx (or any other RIP for that matter)? ColorControl is pretty bare bones in many respects, including no preview... thx! -g-

Right -- 35 lpi -- that is important, too!

If you aren't, be sure to use the double dot setting for the halftone setting in ColorControl... It has increased the quality of our prints. -g-

I'm looking forward to the upgrade that will give me the ability to assign command keys to tools (looking at you, eyedropper/text tool). Oh, and if they could build an intelligent text on a circle tool, that would be the Adobe g d moon landing. Too bad they never use their money to buy companies...

You need to turn down the density setting -- most times, even if your density is too high, prints come out fine b/c you aren't printing solid blocks of color. With a density too high and solid blocks the ribbon has a tendency to bunch or wrinkle, resulting in these lines.
