  1. Data Merge With Advanced Step and Repeat

I did a job similar to that, recently, using InDesign -- unfortunately, you can't get the variable spacing as shown in your comp -- but you can make an initial job with x-up, export that as PDF or eps, and then make another layout with those images. Sending this msg from my phone; can respond...
  2. 2 thumbs up for Summa technical support

    I couldn't agree more -- I have a DC4sx and a 30" cutter -- both are tanks, and tech support really knows their stuff -- kudos! -g-
  3. Using FlexiStarter with Summa DC4sx

Thanks for the reply -- eventually we will be running a DC4 and the DC4sx -- I wasn't thinking we would run them from the same machine, but would like to know if that is possible. We also have one of the vinyl cutters and might want to run it along-side one of the DC4s. -g-
  4. Using FlexiStarter with Summa DC4sx

We're pushing design through Adobe CS (5 and 6); the Summa DC4sx is run by ColorControl, the vinyl cutter (another Summa) is being run by FlexiStarter -- what's the minimum Flexi version (and cost) required to run the DC4sx -- and can it run two DC4 machines? thanks!! -g-
  5. Using FlexiStarter with Summa DC4sx

Is it possible to use FlexiStarter or any of the Flexi products to run the DC4sx (or any other RIP for that matter)? ColorControl is pretty bare bones in many respects, including no preview... thx! -g-
  6. DC4 quality

Right -- 35 lpi -- that is important, too!
  7. DC4 quality

If you aren't, be sure to use the double dot setting for the halftone setting in ColorControl... It has increased the quality of our prints. -g-
  8. Illustrator CS6: What do YOU think?

I'm looking forward to the upgrade that will give me the ability to assign command keys to tools (looking at you, eyedropper/text tool). Oh, and if they could build an intelligent text on a circle tool, that would be the Adobe g d moon landing. Too bad they never use their money to buy companies...
  9. Lines In Black Fill

You need to turn down the density setting -- most times, even if your density is too high, prints come out fine b/c you aren't printing solid blocks of color. With a density too high and solid blocks the ribbon has a tendency to bunch or wrinkle, resulting in these lines.
  10. Recent Projections I did

Good work Addie -- and keep posting your work -- it might not be the best, but you certainly aren't afraid to seek advice and doggedly work at your designs. It's great having someone here with such a positive attitude pushing back against all the chip-shouldered bitter-mongers. -g-
  11. how long do you guarantee your wraps????

Dan's work and professional ethic speaks for itself -- not only is he an outstanding designer but his approach to customer service is something to be emulated, not derided.
  12. Let's Discuss Pickles...

Claussen Pickles -- the best! Look for them in the deli/refrigerated --- they are transcendent! -g-
  13. Police Cruiser Decals -- Last Laugh

So, the labels that go on Vermont Police cruisers are printed by inmates. Someone got creative with the rubylith. http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/20120202/NEWS02/120202039/Pigs-on-police-cars-Prank-by-Vermont-inmates-adorns-decals?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE
  14. If you had the choice Summa or Inkjet?

We've been using a DC4sx for about two years and have been pleased with the printer (paid for itself in about three months). Our printer is used primarily for decals, large labels, and reverse printed signs. Here are the pros of the Summa: - Spot colors: Great for hitting deep blues, hot green...

  17. Is Any one going to the SGIA Expo in New orleans ????

Yesh. I'll be there -- anyone want to design a S101 super-secret badge so we can wink knowingly? -g-
  18. CET COLOR X-Press FK512 flatbed.. thoughts?

Curing options for heat sensitive materials Wondering if it would be possible with these machines to print without using the on-board UV curing; instead using a traditional UV curing conveyor belt. This would (I am guessing) prevent the media from heat distortion during print, as well as...
  19. Need a Mac...

I am a Mac user, going back to an SE/30 many years ago. I currently use a top of the line iMac for design, and am very productive. That being said, I agree that you should get a PC; your whole shop is PC oriented. It's not difficult to acclimate to Windows (we use both in the shop). Your life...
  20. Brown on DC4sx!

Hi all, could someone post cmyk mixes for light, medium, and dark brown? all my attempts are shifting into the burgundy zone. Thanks! -g-
