We use Clear Focus with their Curvalam laminate. Only issue is noticeable squeegee marks that eventually dissipate. Sucks to explain to each customer at pickup. We did install some 3m perf for a printer some time ago (not sure if it was the pricey stuff.) It was the easiest install of lam perf...
Always manage your customer's expectations from the beginning. The client isn't to blame if he was not aware of the extent of the seam work up front. I'd suggest mentioning the paint protection aspect of the wrap. He may just get the cost of the wrap back upon resale of the truck.
I was in this situation a few months ago. go to Staples and buy Turbocad for about $80. It will import the sketchup file and you may then export to a number of 3D formats compatible with SW.
Thx for the input. Just was tempted by a supplier at 62 cents per square including 290 lam (cheap material for a few cheap clients.) Surely flat sides of vans will have channels, etc. I think I'll pass and avoid cheap materials and cheap clients.
Anyone have Oracal 3551RA wraps that have been on the street and some sort of track record of reliability? We're typically a 3MIJ180Cv3 shop here, but it would be nice to have a lower price step down price for short term cube vans and cargo van wraps. I assume everyone is keeping this stuff away...
We have a 2011 Silverado coming in from out of town with a huge Chevy emblem on the tailgate & it should go if we are to have space for our design.
Anyone know if it is bolted or just 2 sided tape?
Thanks!
Removing rivets wastes time & leaves a matrix of silver dots on the layout. Do you guys pull them out upon removal as well?
Removing rivets on a 53ft trailer would take all day (few thousand rivets sometimes)
Our wrap pics look no different with our HP latex over the Roland I just sold. Buy it for zero outgassing & saving a day + of curing. Black prints install as nice as unprinted vinyl.
Got the new Fellers catalog today & noticed a new product: Knifeless Tech Systems tape. Anyone try this stuff yet? At 50 cents a foot, I hope it would do miracles. Sure does look ideal for between truck bed/cab areas.
Hey wrapman,
I'm looking to see how much time an experienced installer like yourself spends on a cargo van. My two installers spend about 7 hrs on an express van like you have pictured. Thanks in advance & keep up the fantastic work.
