Anyone using this device? We have quite a bit of vinyl removal on trucks coming up & are tempted.
  3. Torque tips for trailers?

If their the saftey torx fasteners with the pin in the middle, Craftsman tools @ Sears has a set for under 30 bux.
  4. Sign Foam Substitute

Just an update- We ran (3) 3" x4x8 sheets of the 15lb & it appears to machine exactly like Signfoam 3. 500ipm feed rates & no issues. HDU is costly & I'm glad to see some quality competition in the market driving pricing down-like a free market should.
  5. SP300 or VP300

I think you'll kick yourself every time someone needs a 3 or 4ft tall banner. We did & hence our upgrade from the SP300 to the SP540V.
  6. Sign Foam Substitute

Yes, it is Duna. Spelling error.
  7. Sign Foam Substitute

Anyone heard of Zunaboard HDU? I have a vendor pushing it at approx 17% less cost than Signfoam 3. Tempting, since I'm preparing a PO for (10) 4x8x1.5" sheets. Samples are on the way- I'll post my thoughts upon receipt.
  8. Sign Foam Feed Rates

    Vortex 2 flute ball end.
  9. Sign Foam Feed Rates

Signfoam Mfg suggests 200ipm. We've been progressively increasing feed rate with great results at even 400ipm. How fast are you all running? (15lb material.)
  10. Avg. Accounts Receivable - HOW MUCH?

I write off a grand or two every year to customer balances not worth chasing. Craig, loved your post. That's the reason why I enjoy the Sopranos so much. The system protects no pay losers & we spend $1k to collect anything? However, I do admire the new personal bankruptcy laws. I feel its time...
  11. PLT files

Gino, you may also pick up a copy of Turbocad. Its cheap & imports PLT files & exports DXF. It also works just like Autocad LT, which is great for designing architectural projects.
  12. SP540V Cyan problems

We got a new SP540V about a month ago. Ever since, we've been having problems printing cyan, whether a gradient or a 100% C fill- we get long & thin areas where the color density drops out regardless of what media or profile used. We just sold our SP300, which has the same ink system & had zero...
  13. Need help with type of bit to use

Enroute toolpath Garfield, you may have discovered this feature already, but for a cut like that in Enroute 3, I use the island fill with 3D toolpaths box checked. This would clear the material in the center. The "engrave" toolpath seems to only cut the boundary of the text. Also if the tool is...
  14. X3 upgrade from 11

Is it worth the $179 to upgrade to X3 from version 11? I've been on the fence for a while & not sure if the new tools are a neccessity. Thanks in advance. Malcolm.
  15. the truth about CNC machining...

Get an Onsrud catalog. It has a very useful feedrate chart & tool application guide. They also have full time techs to answer questions.
  16. Ordered a Router!

Rob, good choice on the table configuration. I have a 4x8 with 2 heads & wish I had your setup. If you haven't purchased dust collection- check out Penn State Industries (their cyclone models.) We love ours. As for the phase convertor, I'd look into upgrading your electrical service to a real...
  17. Versacam 300V

I may have an SP300 available for sale in a few weeks (buying bigger machine.) My shop is in Eastern PA. Give me a shout if interested. 610-909-6348.
  18. What Brand CNC Are You Running?

I have an AXYZ 4x8 with (2) 5 HP Elte heads & 10HP Vac pump. It been running an average of 5hrs a day for almost 5yrs now (4 months left on lease!) Lots of heavy routing too, with minimal maintenance issues. Looking back, I wish I had a 5x10' table & tool changer. Still no big regrets. As for...
  19. Can someone open a CAD file......

I regularly work with Autocad DWG & DXF files. If you are still in need, shoot it my way: malcolm@identityaudio.com
  20. Enroute 3?

I was in the position of making the same software decision approx a yr ago. I chose Enroute 3 because it presented a greater value for my needs. Artcam is the best, but at $10k (including training & maintenance,) it may not be the best deal. I noticed only a few tools present in Artcam that are...
