  1. banding or lines on my print

Service mode It's possible for a regular test print to look good but still have deflected/ clogged nozzles (speaking from experience...) - the way to be sure is run the test print within the service mode. Ask around or search the forum if you don't know how to get in there. It's been a while...
  2. What do I do wrong (banding?? PICTURE INSIDE)

Your dampers might need replacing. We ran into this with our Roland - the filter in the dampers (think of it as an ink reservoir) get clogged and doesn't let the ink to flow as needed. The banding didn't show on smaller prints the ink in the dampers were enough for the job but it would band on...
  3. Box Truck Rear Roll Up Door

+1. And like others said, edge seal.
  4. Pounce pattern?

Tape around the edges of the paper pattern with packing tape to keep it from ripping.
  5. Storing Credit Card Numbers Securely

I'll have to look into this. We currently process CC payments using the Paypal plugin in QuickBooks. It takes a bit to setup and we have to email each invoice for payment but it's only 2.9% or lower + $0.30 per transaction, no monthly fee, and we don't handle people's CC numbers at all. Also...
  6. Painting 12 foot tall letters- how would you do it?

+1 on paper pattern. I haven't done it Visual800's way with the chalklines (sounds straight forward though) so I'd just pounce the pattern and use pounce chalk to get the outlines on the wall. Draw a rectangle around each letter to make them easy to align. And, yes, butch paper is the way to go.
  7. Cutlines suddenly not showing anymore

If you're saying the same file that shows the cut line on the laptop doesn't show it on your pc the only thing I can think of is perhaps the print/cut option on the pc is set at print only.
  8. Double cut (when I don't want it to!) Illustrator/Versaworks

Your line is actually two lines - see attached pic. That was taken from the "S"

  12. What's Your Method For Printing Banners With A White Background?

1 pt. gray outline around the edges of the banner. For 4' banner printed on 54" media - set the base point 1" from starting edge, this way only the other 3 edges need trimming. 3' banner on 38" media - center to media, only trim the ends. Tape and fold, make sure the outlines go on the back...
  13. Finding my way

I would contact local sign shops in the area, explain your situation and let them know your plan of wrapping vehicles. Then ask for their scrap vinyl to practice with. Any and all kinds of vinyl because if you can apply vinyl without air release, wrap vinyl will be no sweat. Go home and...
  14. banner only printing a few inches then nothing

15 minutes seems like a LONG rip time. How big is the file size? Maybe it's too big and bogging down your computer. See if outputting at a lower dpi (72-100) helps. Our previous rip computer ran Win XP with 4 gb of memory, it worked great for a long time but started having problems with large...

  17. Aftermarket Ink? Need Advice?

We ran Bordeaux inks for a while in our Roland Soljet Pro III XC-540 - we eventually switched back to Roland inks because some of the Bordeaux cartridges wouldn't completely empty (it happened enough times for us to figure the lost in ink wasn't saving us any money). Hearing about the success...
  18. How long is your roland DX4 printhead life span?

Our Roland SOL JET PRO III XC-540 is 6 yrs old, with light to moderate usage, and should have maintained it better before. We just replaced the Cyan head earlier this year. Look like the Light Cyan is on its last leg and the Black has some deflection.
  19. XC-540 Light Cyan not printing right.. help?

The fill test shows overspray of LC :/ Does "failed electronically" mean the problem is only with the head? Also, should I not bother with other head cleaning options?
