I've had this same problem on a large scale. 3M says not to apply transfer paper to their gloss lams as it removes gloss (see screenshot attached). I'm unsure if this is part of the "removes gloss" problem but I've experienced the same thing that happened to you. Sucks.

We use 3170 over 3m-40c. Works great.

Ironically I just discovered 3 rolls of my own. All three have curvy floss (see pics). It doesn't seem like that would have happened due to age but maybe? EDIT: I guess it makes sense. The carrier tape would shrink over time but the filament would not. Duh. Still sucks.

Ugh I'm an idiot... That moment when you have an error on your printer and search the web to find the answer. After finding the answer you realize you found the answer from a post your started 4 years ago (where you found the fix the first time). Seriously! lol

Thanks Gino, Don't get yer pantys in a bunch...This sign is for an airplane hanger. Nothing fancy. Just looking for an inexpensive way to make the edge of panel look a little cleaner. And I found it.

The sign is 5' x 8'. I'm not finding an aluminum skin or vinyl skin solid core product that's at least 3/8" thick and 5' x 8'. Suggestions?

Thanks. I think this was the problem! Strange it happened exactly the same time I ran out of material and had the jam. But the locking mechanism was tilted. I straightened it and it seems fine.

Well after years of being so carefull with my printers... I accidentally let the material run out on the roll and jammed my 1624. Instantly it errored out. I pulled the plug, pushed the on button to clear the machine and attempted to restart the machine. I'm not able to consistantly...
