  1. Looking for Beta Sites!

I'm real interested. I've been looking at the Oce Arizona and the video makes it seem like a close match. I own two sign shops in Washington state.
  2. Applying vinyl lettering to latex painted walls

We do it often with great results. Like mentioned above, use a glossy paint. Actually it's sometimes hard to find glossy latex house paint so we use semi gloss. We've used Behr, Columbia, Sherwin Williams and Rodda. I tend to go with Behr Ultra semi gloss the most. And yes, let it dry several...
  3. One-Shot paint on aluminum?

    That's a great idea. Thanks Billct2.
  4. One-Shot paint on aluminum?

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll scuff them up with a scotch brite pad wipe dust off and then spray two coats of Ronan. The signs are 18"x24". City code wont allow vinyl prints. It's a custom mixed light blue color for the background, then I'll cut out a mask for the words which will be white...
  5. One-Shot paint on aluminum?

I have some white aluminum sign blanks that I need to paint with a custom color. This is new to me. Can I use Ronan (acrylic enamel) or should I use One-Shot, or something else? I prefer Ronan and on the label it says it can be used for aluminum, I'm just wondering what will last the longest?
  6. New Logo

    Awesome!
  7. Adobe Muse

I've used Dreamweaver, Wordpress, and Weebly (for clients who don't have much money to spend), but now I use Drupal. Actually I use Drupal Gardens which is much easier to learn. Check out Square Space too.
  8. 1 Shot not drying thread...

Yep, it's because the hardener in paint works it's way to the top and each time you throw out the hamburger (I like that term!) you lower the quality of the paint. What we do is... rather than take the lid off the can, we drill two holes in the lid. One to pour the paint out of and one to vent...
  9. How would you construct this sign?

This property is zoned recreational rather than residential or commercial which makes the sign code a little more lenient. I've had an initial meeting with the City about the sign code and I'll be filing for the sign permit next week. It may or may not require a building permit as well. If it...
  10. How would you construct this sign?

He is actually a really great client that has brought us a lot of work. This is one of about 20 signs that we're doing for the property (nature education organization). Most of the other signs are trail way finding signs. His concern is that if the utility company had to dig up their lines for...
  11. Da-da-da-dum... It's official! Critique my logo?

Hey man, congratulations for starting off on your own! I think designing your own logo is the hardest logo you'll ever design. I like the fact that you want to tie in parts of your parents' business. I like the dragon drawing. I like the layout of the dragon and the business name. I think the...
  12. How would you construct this sign?

How would you construct this sign? It'll be 10' long and about 4' tall. There are wires underground so the client doesn't want it to be permanently mounted. I'm leaning toward either a metal base or pressure treated wood base. The base will probably be 3' wide at the bottom (so it's stable in...

Hi everyone. This seems like a great forum. I'm in the learning process about forums now.

No we don't do the metal scroll work. I wish I was that talented!
  15. Sign maker, graphic designer, & muralist

Hi everyone, my name is Rusty and I live in Leavenworth, WA which is a small unique town in the Cascade Mountains. My wife and I have owned a small shop called Gibbs Graphics for about 10 years now in which we offer signs (mostly hand painted wooden signs), graphic design (including webdesign)...
