  1. Mimaki and Triangle mss

GREETINGS FROM THE FUTURE! (Watch out for 2020... it's a lulu!) ;-) I am agreeing with you on the washed out nature of Triangle inks. Unfortunately that is the one that my boss's chosen supplier has. I'm going to show him your assessment here and suggest that we go elsewhere for Mimaki inks. Cheers!
  2. Need Help My ol' Roland SP-540v can't sense the left pinch roller. What kind of sensor is involved?

I dug down into the little board on top of the carriage... wiggled the cable in its connector... and viola! I'm back!!! Thanks again for the suggestion! :)
  3. Need Help My ol' Roland SP-540v can't sense the left pinch roller. What kind of sensor is involved?

HI THERE, EVERYONE! :) My ol' Roland SP-540v can't sense the LEFT pinch roller. The carriage just skips right by it. going all the way over to the left side and returns to the station. It says "invalid" left pinch roller position BUT IT IS DEFINITELY right smack dab in the middle of where it's...
  4. Need Help Has anyone used Fome-Cor "Heat-Activated" with a hot laminator? I need temp and speed settings.

HAHA! Thanks! As it turns out... After a LOT of searching around on the internet for temperature and speed settings, I just started with low temp and high speed moving up with the temperature and down with the speed until everything was so hot that it STUNK UP THE SHOP… until I found settings...
  5. Need Help Has anyone used Fome-Cor "Heat-Activated" with a hot laminator? I need temp and speed settings.

Has anyone used "Heat-Activated" Fome-Cor with a hot laminator? I've seen temp/time settings for use with a heat press but not through a hot laminator. I came across a PDF flyer of "Alcan Family of Products" noting: "WHY CHOOSE FOME-COR ® HEAT-ACTIVATED?.... Can be used on a heated mechanical...
  6. Customer put my road sign on a 40' pole

YEP! It's a lesson-in-communication learned. And you're right, a small town is different. Word travels and it doesn't always matter who's "right". Cheers! :)
  7. Customer put my road sign on a 40' pole

As someone else mentioned, you are WAY over-thinking this! HOWEVER, over my decades as a sign guy, I've come to realize that sometimes customers will be disappointed in the results of their OWN approval. So ALWAYS have people either initial a hard copy "Go-By" OR, if via email, ALWAYS put a...
  8. Need Help Roland SP-540v flashes "Service Mode" but then quickly jumps out of Service Mode... I'm stumped...

OOOOHHHH.... MYYYYYY.... GAAAWWDDD!!! That's it!!! LOLOLOL I can't believe that it worked! From my experience in the past it just showed "Service Mode" and that little "carriage return" menu symbol until you did something! Thank you for your help!!! :) Okay... how do I "complete" this post...
  9. Need Help Roland SP-540v flashes "Service Mode" but then quickly jumps out of Service Mode... I'm stumped...

So, yesterday I changed out a liner encoder strip on our Roland SP-540v (firmware 6.3) and, although it prints the image still "skews". I figured I'd need to do the "Linear Encoder Setup" as per the Service manual. I attempted AS I HAVE DONE IN THE PAST to enter service mode... the usual, start...
  10. Question Can I cut a perimeter of a jpeg using Rasterlink6 when I don't already have cut lines?

Coming from the Roland Universe I'm having frustrations with Mimaki's way of doing things. My subject line says it all, really... "Can I cut a perimeter of a jpeg using Rasterlink6 when I don't already have cut lines?" In Roland's VersaWorks, I can just decide, as an afterthought, to cut around...
  11. CNC for Cutting Eva Foam Matts

I'm building my own, VERY INEXPENSIVE, CNC router table. Check out the DIY project, "Mostly Printed CNC" at v1engineering.com. There are a couple of types. You can purchase everything OR, if you have a 3D printer, you can print some of it yourself to reduce the cost. I'm ALMOST finished. I'm...
  12. Rasterlink 5, retrieving licence info

Wow! You really get around! ;-)
  13. Question Is "RasterLink Tools" a version of "FineCut"? And...

THAT'S GREAT! I appreciated it! FINGERS CROSSED... I'm scared!!! LOLOL ;)
  14. Question Is "RasterLink Tools" a version of "FineCut"? And...

Thanks for the info. I THOUGHT I saw one of the mimaki website pages somewhere that 5 was NOT upgradeable to 6 for free but I saw references on Signs101 that said it was. Dunno. I had only seen "upDATE" links online. Can you (or anyone) point me to a full ver 6 upGRADE install link? (It DOES...
  15. Question Is "RasterLink Tools" a version of "FineCut"? And...

Interestingly, I had actually tried that but RasterlinkPro5SG would not even load the .pdf file. (It was a simple bitmap with my usual cutcontour spot keylining it... I had printed and cut that same image on the Roland without incident.) BUT EVEN MORE INTERESTINGLY, It loaded another file that...
  16. Question Is "RasterLink Tools" a version of "FineCut"? And...

Recently my boss acquired a used Mimaki CJV30 and its accompanied RIP computer with RasterlinkPro 5SG. The computer also had Adobe Illustrator C5 and an older version of CorelDRAW. Coming from the world of Roland, for cutting I'm used to adding a cut line of the pseudo spot colour "CutContour"...
  17. Replacing Roland Dx4 Printhead On Sp-540v?

This is interesting. The Service Manual instructs to do a "Pump Up" at the beginning. However, my tech friend, who gave me tips about all of this, told me not to do a Pump Up as it was not at all necessary and it just wastes a lot of ink. I also watched a youtube video from "Digiprint Supplies"...
