  1. Ink leaking from Mutoh heads

Hi. Is anyone having issues with inks leaking from their Mutoh ValueJet or ExpertJet heads? Especially on recent installed machines (up to 4 months old) or on machines that had a recent damper replacement?
  2. Designjet 8000s

What does your nozzle check look like? Head alignments done? Uni- and bidirectional alignments done? And last but not least, print feed adjust (step adjust) is extremely important for these machines. Has this been done?
  3. expiration date on inks

They are not greedy. Inks do age and become unstable after which could do harm to your ink system. It might be that their inks can last much longer, but for example they also can not control the way the distributor and you control your storage. Too many variables. So they most likely came up...
  4. Roland Grey issue, What other brand will print a good grey

Any printer (including a Roland) that is properly profiled can print a neutral grey. This is not a printer issue. This is a profiling issue. Either make a profile that is as neutral as possible using CMYK or the easiest option would be a Max K profile only using black for black generation.

  6. OKI E64 or M64 to replace JV300 160

I have about 25 years of experience in this industry including being the third company ever buying the first model Latex printer. After that, I have worked for the world's largest, independent profiling and testing lab and can personally operate over 40 printer models. While working as sign...
  7. OKI E64 or M64 to replace JV300 160

Same here. Worked with MANY printers over the years and I really love OKI's since when they were still Seiko's. They need a little tender love and care, but when you treat them well, they will make you loads of money.
  8. Printer Options / High Intensity Reflective Signs

If the Avery Dennison TrafficJet breaks, you deal with Avery Dennison Technical Services. I am not aware anyone of the competitors offers the same level of service. And as far as the HP Latex printer as an Avery Dennison solution for permanent traffic signage, I can tell you that there currently...
  9. Printer Options / High Intensity Reflective Signs

So if the hardware breaks, it's 3M that will take care of it? Or do you have to call another service provider? And I can tell you that Avery Dennison is currently not reviewing the HP Latex printers.
  10. Printer Options / High Intensity Reflective Signs

Out of curiosity, why those 2 systems? The HP system is not backed up by one, single manufacturer. For every issue, you need to talk to someone else. Also, the warranties for this system are quite complex and somewhat "thin". It almost seems like each color has it's own warranty. The same for...
  11. Printer Options / High Intensity Reflective Signs

Well, it actually can and is an approved method to use digital printing systems. Bu the combination mentioned in the post I was wondering about.
  12. Printer Options / High Intensity Reflective Signs

Are we talking about permanent traffic signage here? Because I would love to see your daytime, nighttime and reflectivity numbers on this sandwich...
  13. Flexi/LXi cannot get past "Characterization" tab in Color Profiler

Flexi LXi is a stripped down version from Signwarehouse. Please look at their website to see the options breakdown table which shows the profiling engine is not part of the package and only optional in one https://www.signwarehouse.com/lxi-vinyl-cutting-software
  14. Printer Options / High Intensity Reflective Signs

10 years is not true as well as 24 hours outgassing. Avery Dennison is currently offering speeds up to 162 ft2/h, an industry leading warranty up to 15 years and laminating after 2 hours in combination with OL-1000 and anti-graffiti.
  15. Please help. Installed new print head

Clean cappings, set carriage to low and do a little charge. If that is not helping, do a second little charge. If you replace your heads, the ink retracts and you need to bring this back to the heads first and slightly pulling this from under the capping station is not enough in most cases...
  16. HP 360 Latex print issue. Any ideas what the problem is?

Possibly the transition area from light to dark inks causing a step in the gradient. Especially as you mention it moves when you change the gradient. You could either try to improve the ICC you are using or try another one?
  17. How to import Flexi 8.1 ICC Profiles into NEW Flexi 12?

Instead of adding the ICC, another option is to start the profiler in Flexi 12 and import the data from the old ICC. In my case so far this always worked for non-compatible ICC’s.
  18. How to import Flexi 8.1 ICC Profiles into NEW Flexi 12?

Or use the Legacy Preset Exporter: http://fxhelp-en.saicloud.com/1827.htm
  19. Inkbased printer suggestions

If you are looking for permanent, warranted traffic signs with up to 15 years outdoor durability and anti-graffiti properties, then TrafficJet is the system you are looking for. Many DOT's in the US already use this system due to it's versatility, warranties and service provided.
  20. Reflective aluminum signs

Being the Avery Dennison Reflective Division R&D lead developer for the TrafficJet Print System I'm sorry to hear you feel this way. We develop our own inks in house and do very extensive weathering on our products which gives us in depth knowledge about the performance. We fully stand behind...
