  1. Anyone know what this "mechanism" is called?

Had a couple of those Webermade dispensers years ago, was going to get one for here but they're discontinued :(
  2. Substrate

Was gonna say it could be polycarb, that can be thermoformed at low enough temps to not destroy a print (as low as 125f), but this looks a lot thicker. Sintra is an expanded PVC, that can be thermoformed too, but not sure of what temps it needs.
  3. Canva purchases Affinity

They plan on offering the choice of the std license, or subscription, depending on your needs. Unless they jack the price to the moon I don't really see where a subscription would be useful, unless the subcription was for a web based platform so you could access anywhere. I'm really a fan...
  4. Canva purchases Affinity

According to the powers that be, they say they're still going to keep Affinity as it's own entity, same development team, same course it's been on. Time will tell.
  5. Canva purchases Affinity

It means either Canva will get better, or Affinity will become garbage. I'm leaning towards the latter since Canva caters to crafters, amateurs, web designing, desktop publishing, the ditzy receptionist who doubles as the companies designer, not true professionals. Either way I'm sure the price...
  6. PSD TO PDF TO AI

Those are a pain in the... If you expand all the layers you'll find the shape files for each clip group. If yer' lucky you can duplicate just the clip shapes into a separate layer, combine them and use that to make your cut shape file. Then save it as an AI or EPS.
  7. What Vinyl to use, help pls

Wet applying anything with air release channels is a no-no, they're dry application only, and don't need it. Liquid gets trapped in those air release channels and causes all kinds of issues, and usually fails quicker. Vinyl can be laid in cold weather, but even the right vinyl for a wet install...
  8. Appears my VJ inkjet printer ink issue

Don't know much about those, but they all work on the same principal. If you don't have puddles of ink anywhere, it's probably the cleaning cycle doing it. Does it have any different cleaning levels (light, medium, hard)? If it's on the highest level, try changing it to a lower level and see if...
  9. Question liquid adhesive

Use something like 3M Primer 94 or a similar wrap product. The 3M comes in a pint can, or a pen. It's a clear primer to add extra adhesion for graphics where it's needed, like in recesses, edges of graphics that may be prone to popping loose. Don't use more than you need, because like anything...
  10. UV printhead left uncapped for 26 hours, and how do you deal with anxiety?

No doctor visit or prescription required... ;)
  11. Epson s80600 random ink drops

I concur with unclebun... Had that happen many times, usually turns out to be something stuck to the heads or carriage, often it can be something so fine it's hard to see and need tweezers to remove. Get in there with a light and look, you'll probably find a hair or piece of fuzz/ lint. It...
  12. Anyone on here print laptop skins?

    They're only $5 here... https://ultraskins.net/dell-latitude-e7440-p40g-skin-template-vector/
  13. Car toppers?

Most driver schools around here have lighted ones. If that's what they want, Amazon for el-cheapos, or someplace like this if you want good ones, they sell em' printed or blank. https://www.nextlevelcustomsigns.com/car-top-magnetic-signs-s/79.htm
  14. UV printhead left uncapped for 26 hours, and how do you deal with anxiety?

Doubtful it did any damage, it would have shown up right away. You're lucky it was a UV printer, a solvent one would have took some effort to get back running. I'm assuming it was dark in the shop while the heads were off the caps. If any UV light, like sunlight through a window, or fluorescent...
  15. Warped 3mm Aluminum sign tray

Sorry to say, you're not getting those out :(
  16. What Vinyl to use, help pls

Man, those things have probably been there for a good 10 years minimum.
  17. What Vinyl to use, help pls

Whoever originally did it probably did it on the inside because of that basement. Ladders would be pretty sketchy, scaffolding would be easier/ safer, if it'll even fit in there. I'd put it back on the inside. That way if they ever want it removed/ changed again, and come back to you, it'll make...
  18. Raises?

That's one of the biggest problems today, that competition is what kept prices in check. Anti-trust laws have been whittled away to nothing, so it's a free for all.
  19. What are some ways to show gratitude to past clients?

On the getting end, my favorites are places I order parts from for my toys. They usually throw bags of candy in the box. Skittles, gummy bears, starburst, you name it. Wanna make a fat customer happy, or make a customer fat and happy, why wait till Christmas, bag of candy with every order over...
  20. 3M40c Peeling

There are different grades, the DIY and lower end kits vinyl might stick to, but usually not long term. The professional stuff is near impossible to remove, and vinyl will usually fail within months. Ceramic is big business up here with all the road salts used in winter, everyone is using it...
