  1. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

I'm kinda there too, Terrance. It's slow, it's expensive, it bands in lower pass counts (6 and under), takes forever to start up and to start printing. It uses a boatload of ink and is by far the most expensive per sq ft cost (ink wise) of all our presses. That being said, we do some pretty...
  2. Profiling Dye Sub tips and tricks?

As a G7 expert, I’m pretty familiar with creating custom profiles and getting them to within spec. My next challenge will be dealing with a difficult client who needs some dye sub profiling done and from what little I know about it, it can be a finicky beast at best. Anyone have any resources...
  3. ISSUE REGARDING PRINTING

Looks like you may be mixing color spaces. More than likely, your AI doc is in cmyk and your photo is in rgb. Convert the photo to cmyk in photoshop and resend. You can also save the file out as a PDF x1a
  4. Colorado 1650 banner, how?

When we notice that there is a bit too much "fray" for my liking, I use a small hand torch (like this) and quickly go over both ends of the roll and burn them off. Takes just a few seconds and you don't have to worry about the fibers anymore.
  5. Silicone-Free SCREENPRINT blockout white ink?

We have a big job coming up and we'll be printing on a rigid substrate that comes in a variety of colors. But then we need to digitally print on them. Due to timeframes and cost, it does NOT make sense for us to print white digitally. It's just too slow and pricy. Our problem right now is that...
  6. Software Help RIP Recommendations

I may be in the minority, but I’d steer away from Caldera. The interface is clunky and if we wanted to upgrade from our older version, we’d be looking at almost $6k. No thanks. Licensing fees are pricy but those are usually set by the device manufacturer so there’s not a lot of wiggle room for...
  7. Ultraflex 12oz on r1000

If you pull out some media and push it through the press to the other side, do you see those wrinkles? Not hitting “load”, just feed it though by hand and give it some manual tension from the back to straighten it out. If you see those wrinkles, it’s the media. I’ve had similar issues on both...
  8. Equipment Redundancy - Bad idea to rely on one printer?

That's pretty bad. Being "hard down" should put you at the top of the priority list. I know when it happens to one of my Durst's or HP's and I can't get a quick response from service, I'm on the phone to the sales rep.
  9. Canon Colorado M Series.

I thought the 3 and 5 used the same inkset....
  10. Resources for ArtiosCad designs?

I have very little experience with #ArtiosCad and was looking to make some table top displays like file attached here but out of e-flute or b-flute. Does anyone know where there may be some templates available to buy or download? (I've already looked at the site that Esko points me to but they...
  11. Canon Colorado M Series.

That sure beats the hell out of the thousands of dollars spent on ink filters and air filters on our Dursts!
  12. Canon Colorado M Series.

Do happen to know about how much you spent in the last year on consumables? (Not ink. Filters, cleaning solutions, etc)
  13. HP 630

That's really gotta slow down production for you. I know if we had to do that on our 3600, we'd loose a few customers!
  14. Selling used large format equipment?

I'm kinda poking around with the idea of trying to offload our Vutek 5r+ but really have no idea where to start. I know there's a premium section here but I'm not a paid member (yet). I just dunno if there are companies out there who buy stuff like this to resell.... Maybe I can call our EFI...
  15. Canon Colorado M Series.

Sorry, I am not able to share the file that I used. NDA stuff.
  16. Canon Colorado M Series.

I didn't use the rip to calculate the ink consumption. I used the data straight from the press. I can download it all into an Excel file and then parse it out from there. I don't trust the rip to give me accurate numbers unless it's polling the press directly and pulling those numbers back after...
  17. Canon Colorado M Series.

I did an ink consumption/cost comparison to our other presses for the same file and found that the Colorado M comes in 3rd as far as “cost per print” goes. 1) Durst P5-350 uv ($0.98) 2) vutek 5r+ uv ($1.44) 3) Colorado M ($1.73) 4) HP 3600 latex ($2.16) 5) HP r2000 latex ($3.74) Of course...
  18. Colors way off

nozzle check… head alignment… re-linieralize… Could be media as well. We got a bad batch of GF white perm a while back and it’s dyne lev was way
  19. Canon Colorado M Series.

Anyone know if the ink prices for the M are coming down anytime soon? At $160/L, that's a LOT more expensive than ANY other press we have (Durst, Vutek, HP Latex). I know the "cost per hour" in relation to the price of the press is going to be a fair amount cheaper than our other presses but...
  20. Question Printing Screen Positives on a HP Latex 310

I know this is an old thread but have you been able to get your dmax high enough on a latex press to hold the dot when burning your screens?
