Anyone Heading to a Trade Show this year?

I'm going to go check out Fabtech myself for the first time. Just to see something a little different. That's in September in Chicago.

As far as industry shows go, I had a virtual assistant on Fiverr compile a list for us. Here's what she came up with:

We'll also be going to Printing United in Orlando. Should be a good time. I sure missed it last year!

I've never really been to a show, but I want to go to one and look at laminating tables. or buy one on site like FatCat (I think) said he did.

They make some pretty good deals at the shows. In my experience Printing United will be the show to attend if you go to just one this year. That one's in Orlando in October. I'll be there just catching up on what's new and saying hi in person to people I talk to on the phone all year long.

Kinda becomes like a family reunion. :birthday:

We had flights and rooms booked for PrintEx here in Australia, but due to the latest outbreak it was moved to July 2022. Quite disappointed as we haven't had a show for 2 years and would like to see some new equipment and catch up with our suppliers.

SignMeUpGraphics I hear ya!

Im hoping the new delta variant doesn't cancel Printing United. I don't see that happening, but precautions are certainly ramping up here in the US again.

Ok...how long will it be before we can no longer utter the name the variant whose airline hub is based in Atlanta? Seems to me, a beer company was already successful clearing their good name.

Just wait friends...Sigma is waiting just around the corner. And should it happen to mutate with the former, I can already hear the mournful cries of every Delt Sig frat/sorority in the USA.

My company has a few registrations and hotel rooms booked for the Tri-State Sign Association (TSSA) annual conference early in August at Downstream Casino Resort Hotel just West of Joplin, MO. The hotel and casino is technically in Oklahoma, the main parking lot is in Kansas and the street entrance is in Missouri. It's a pretty nice place. I don't gamble, but I do enjoy going there.

The TSSA convention was cancelled last year due to the pandemic. This year the situation is looking pretty iffy. The COVID-19 case load in the Joplin area is pretty bad, one of the worst hot spots in the nation. We're watching the case levels there. If they stay high or go even higher that will be a problem. Most of my co-workers are fully vaccinated (including myself). However a few will not get the vaccine. Thanks to that issue we may end up cancelling our trip. My boss is concerned one of us could bring a break-through infection of Delta back with us and pass that to one of our non-vaccinated colleagues. The problem is the Delta variant is right here in Lawton and spreading through town at a rapidly increasing rate. The non-vaccinated guys who haven't had COVID-19 already are going to get infected one way or the other, especially with them hitting the bars and other crowded places, not taking any precautions as if this pandemic doesn't exist.

I was looking forward to that trip, but it's looking like it will be another year before we attend that conference again.

I hear good things about the tri-state show. It's not far from us. We definitely need to get down there.

I have my fingers crossed. I'm ready to start traveling again for sure. Most of our staff is vaccinated (myself included), so not real worried there, but it's still a concern.

Was considering going to Printing United in Oct, but all depends how things are. Haven't been to a show in years and have never been to a big one in the US, but with all the hoops we need to go through to travel and this Delta crap (not airlines) I'm leaning towards holding off until next year. Would be really fun to check out new equipment and meet some new people, but we'll see.

On a side note, how do you like the virtual assistant idea? After reading the 40 hour workweek (finally) it got me thinking that this would be a good thing to try...just not sure what I would get them to do just yet.

White Haus I have had a tough time really taking advantage of a virtual assistant unless I have a specific project like this. I have purchased blocks of hours from this gig a few times. (I usually purchase at least 4hrs, regardless of the project) She does a really good job. The list is unedited. She set it all up. This sounds like a good topic for a new thread.... :clapping:

I was quite keen on going to this too. Was quite disappointed with the news.

Scheduled to attend Graphic Pro Expo in Long Beach early August because it's a small show and only a 20 minute drive but will likely just bike the beach path there and have a picnic lunch instead.

Has anyone else heard that HP has already pulled out of Printing United. If so, I expect many other manufacturers to follow.

Tuff times for vendors and attendees... I love the BIG shows! Lots of innovation to see and deals to be made. Maybe next year...
