This would be a great filter or tool if available in PhotoShop -- Is Xara 5 a stand alone or does it work with PhotoShop?

It's stand alone but is 89 bucks and includes a really cool web designing program as part of it.

It would work great with landscape backgrounds, etc. It might not work so well with a closeup of coffee beans though.

It's not bad for stretching to twice the width. Still not sure what it's good for but you have to admit, it's a neat trick.

There is an option for doing this in CS4 that is a two step deal, not what Fred said, cause you will have issues doing it that way.

For Canvas Prints

On a canvas where the image was wrapped around the edge of the canvas frame, it's like a normal image continued. Then there also is an image where the edge was a stretched image that looked like it was just pulled down and stretched around the frame. It gave the canvas edge a neat look and I assume that you could set your boarder to just stretch the outside 1/2 inch or so area of the canvas and leave the main image untouched. Another use.....

Not in the version I own. Can I upgrade for 89 bucks?
Also Photoshop doesn't seem to offer masking to lock the parts of an image that you don't want to stretch.

Looks like it's well worth it for the web design program alone. And I can see lots of time where that stretch feature would come in quite handy.

It appears to be part of CS4.....but you won't get it for 89 bucks.
