Flush Roland SP-540v

I had someone come by several times a month and do a small print job. That worked well for us. But now I'm in a situation where no one can do that, and I'd rather not flush the lines. I was hoping there was a program I could install to run a job through occasionally. Anyone hear of something like that?

A couple of options for storage. 1. Order some cleaning cartridges and do a empty (or I think it's called that) from the ink menu in the service menu. 2. easier way with the cleaning cartridges, shut off power, hook up a syringe to the line after the cap top and pull until you only get cleaning liquid, then take out the cartridges and pull until all you get is air. I'd put a little bit of cleaning liquid in the cap tops to try and keep the heads moist.

WHY NOT configure remote access & send a color wheel every other day. i really didn't print anything but daily color wheels on my
printers after the wife ended up in hospital for a long term. not only are my heads good. the color still matches closely enough that even
i can not tell which printer a job came from
it would still be a better idea to wet the hell out of the felt in the captop(s) weekly after a good cleaning cycle, though

You do have the risk of the printer not working on return from several months. The printers are really only supposed to sit for maximum of two weeks. This is why you’re supposed to run the head wash two times.

Appreciate it. Do I need 4 cleaning cartridges or can i do one head at a time B/C, then M/Y? Is it it ok to leave the cleaning solution in the lines during a period of storage? Pinch drainline and wetcap the machine after running? Or, is it better to follow some of the advice above? Is there a way to tell if the machine has been updated to run Max2 inks? We received it used and that is unknown- the cartridges currently in it are aftermarket and don't indicated.

You NEED 4. Roland SL-CL or get from the brand of ink you use or refillable cartridges.
The Head Wash will empty the lines, although you can then pull from captop lines to fill lines, dampers, heads.

OP's printer is an SP-540V, not a VS. As others have suggested, do the head wash 2 times, but then clip off the 2 cap lines, fill the caps with cleaning solution, park the heads and unplug the printer, leaving the cleaning cartridges in the printer. This will clear the ink and also keep the heads from drying out. The head wash is on p. 97 of the attached user guide.

Thanks! One last question: as Im searching for replacement cartridges and cleaning cartridges, do the BN20 cartridges fit the older models? I haven't been able to come to a concret answer on this.

Although I can't comment on the compatibility, you'd want Eco-Sol Max Cleaning Cartridges. You should be able to get them from your local Roland Dealer.
