Some idiot merged into my truck on Monday ripping my front bumper half off. The person did not slow down so I started beeping my horn. They busted a U turn and almost hit another vehicle. I gave chase and pulled up beside them and yelled at her to stop. I ended up driving my truck in front of her to force her to stop and I called the cops. Probably not the smartest thing to do but I was pissed she hit me and took off. The cops got there and took everyone's information down. The other driver said she just got a call that her mother was dying in the hospital and didn't know there was a collision.

I called her insurance company and apparently she has a COMPLETLY different story about what happened? Huh? This was a simple she ran into me situation. I wasn't distracted, not fooling with the radio... had just took off from a stop light hauling a heavy trailer so I was going slower than the rest of the traffic... nothing wrong with my driving. Her insurance company is denying the claim and asked if I had any dash cam or anything... which I don't.

This is just a post suggesting you people might want to buy one of those things. I just got one on Amazon for $80. I've filed small claims lawsuits before so I will do the same to that stupid ass lying fucking ass hat of a *****.

Did the insurance company get to see the cops report? One would think they would question the contradiction in reports. Still, that sucks my friend.

All the cops do is "report where they found the vehicles" and "what the two sides of the story are". Which is fucking usless.

And what does your insurance rep say? My understanding of insurance... When you need them, their job is to battle it out. They would take the cops report. Don't they look at the scene, and note damages anymore? Seems like an important thing, in a vehicular road accident.

Crap way to end the year but sounds like no one got hurt, so there's that.
Now you get to see how good the insurance you are paying for is.

It's just a pre-paid car repair plan. They'll pay for it and then just up your rates to recoup their costs.

Hey Tex, my asshole buddy backed into someone at a traffic light and smashed up their cars. Not sure how he did that but when the cops came, he told them the guy rear ended him. The guy was mad but my friend said come on, that doesn't even make sense, why would I back up at a traffic light? The guy got cited for it and had to pay to fix his car.

That's why I was contacting their insurance first. Last time I was in an accident it was again.. other driver's fault and I dealt with their insurance and they had me paid in less than a week. Since I dealt directly with their insurance, nothing was on my record. But that driver told the truth. I don't want my rates going up over a bumper and some idiot lying bitch.

Dash cam would solve that. I already have too much shit in my truck and didn't want to add something else.... but I guess this is for the best.

You seem to have a lot of accidents. You sure this isn't you?

Dallas traffic is horrible. I have four cameras in the van - front, back and both sides. If I get rear ended or side-swiped (it's happened three times), I'll at least have footage.

Are you really a Texan, Tex? You didn't whip out your gun and shoot her or her car. This screams of Texican behavior.

With today's climate, it seems like a good idea. I have a camera, but it's only for backing up and doesn't record. Maybe I can convert that one and have it record and also get one out the front. Hmmm........

Have your attorney contact their insurance. Works wonders and is worth the attorney fee.

Well, I talked to my insurance and since there is no video it's a he said she said... although in my case she is a liar. I can get a replacement bumper here for $600 shipped and my deductible is $2k. It's looking like I'll have to eat this one so I'll make sure that dash cam gets installed as soon as it arrives. Hence the reason for my post... get a damn dash cam! The one I picked out has forward and rear views.
