Hello everyone,

I stumbled on this forum while checking out some work of a friend who is a member here. I've been a member of a similar forum for over 10 years and have been operating my own sign business since 1981. It has been a long and sometimes bumpy ride, but the current version of my shop is called Baird Graphics. I produce a variety of products, mostly hand lettered with some vinyl (probably 60/40). I've scaled back a bit to pursue a craft that has fascinated me for years. I'm now a 47 year old neon apprentice (go figure). Anyway, it's nice to be here and I hope I can contribute to the knowledge base and learn something new as well. I haven't posted any work here yet, but if you would like to see some of my work, check out this link... http://www.1shot.com/home.html

What you are seeking to do is everybody's dream and nobody's reality. Because of halftoning and other issues it is very difficult to create something nice automatically. You generally need to vectorize the graphics by hand and identify and reset any type to get a clean result at larger sizes.

You will get a lot more answers Joe if you start your own thread in the appropriate forum category rather than just jumping in on someone else's thread as you have done here.

Welcome to Signs 101.
