Need Help How to mount 1" pvc FCO letters 4 1/2" from fascia

A cleint wants his 1" deep flat cut out PVC letters to be flush with 5" channel letters above. What is the most inexpensive way and the mot esthetically pleasing way to mount thiese letters. They are unitized Brush Script font and range from 4" to 8" in height. I was thinking of using 7" long 3/16" studs with 4 1/2" tubular standoffs. Studs secured ot he fascia with silicone. is this a workable solution?

3/16 is way too small for a stud that length. I wouldn't go any less than 5/16" or 3/8".

I agree. I actually just did a job a few weeks ago where we moved the letters from having 3" gap to flush with the wall... Looked MUCH cleaner. When it was stood off from the wall all the suds created busy looking shadows. Maybe not an issue with a channel letter set above it. Reason my customer did it was the birds kept nesting behind the letters.

Wow, that sounds ugly. Using steel studs will make it stronger

Smaller letters tend to look odd when you mess with the scale/place them that far off that wall

Use a raceway of sort that looks good and becomes part of the “look”, long oval or such.

shadows will kill it, double because it is script. Your customer is not the sign pro. If you do this neither are you, he will call back and have you change it after and blame you for it. The birds will love it though.

Thank you all for your help. The design changed from FCO letters to a fabricated assembly. FCO acrylic letters mounted to an aluminum "cloud" backer. so the sign became one unit and will cast a single shadow. That made it easier for me to design for sure....
