IC Check Slot 1 Error

I have a SP300V, I put a new black cartridge in and can't get the black to print black now. I have purged the lines with cleaner, changed the damper, changed the cap, changed the wipers, and cleaned everything up. I have now resorted to printing black boxes hoping will clean itself out, of which i have gone through 1/2 a tank of ink. I put cleaner in my cap and let it sit all night.

When I do a check of the slots, I get an error on Slot 1 which is my black. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If I read correctly, the black prints, and then it fades off. Is that correct?
if so, you most likely have not done something correctly attaching the captop, damper or have not used a good quality damper, captop. in my opinion the only dampers and captops that work properly are genuine Roland parts. All of the third-party parts have always failed when customers purchase them. I always end up putting in genuine Roland parts.
when you say you check the ink slots, what exactly are you doing to check them? And what errors are you getting?

What's the problem?
SP-300V don't read the chip of the cartridge, so it could only be the ink empty or cartridge not plugged switches.
If the black just prints fuzzy, you need to replace the head.

I changed the cap top after it wouldn't print and all other things listed. They are all OEM parts. It seemed it started when I got the new cartridge.

When I say I checked the ink slots, it was in service mode and I'm sure it was port check. Because I figured it was only waste of half an ink cartridge I swapped out the computer chips on them. I figured I had nothing to lose but half a cartridge. This morning I'm not getting the same error. I'm going to try a head clean again and see if it brings Black Ink in

Actually I found it in service mode, under cartridge, I went to IC check and I get an error on slot 1

The blue is printing fine. It's not fuzzy, it's printing a dark burgandy and when combined with colors, doesn't print at all or very little that I can see.

I do have another print head that will swap out this afternoon or tomorrow.

Is the printer giving any other errors? The only two cartridge related ones are either no cartridge inserted, or out of ink. There is nothing else it can sense apart from those. I would lean towards the needle being clogged, or air is getting into the line somewhere. I have replacement complete docks in stock if you need one

I replaced the head with one I had that was not new. I found a hole in the magenta/yellow cap hose while i was trying to suck ink with a syringe. I also replaced the hose to the pump to make sure i was getting suction and reseated the new cap. I'm going to order a new print head and see if that fixes it. It sees the black cartridge and the needle is straight.

I have installed a new print head and cap top. I tried pulling ink with a syringe but i'm not getting anything. I tried to fill ink through Service mode but I get the Canceling for Protecting motor. I think i need to let the machine sit for a bit to make sure it is cool. I'm come back in about 20 minutes to try it again.

If you use syringe and are not getting anything, is there resistance against the syringe?
I am thinking you may have cracked one of the nipples on the manifold causing,an air leak
remember the manifold is pretty fragile like one of your grandmother’s Christmas ornaments

i have done this to myself a few times

Yes, I've used the syringe and am getting resistance on the Cyan/Black side. The magenta/yellow side, I'm able to pull up some ink and have less resistance. I have not replaced the cap on the Magenta/Yellow side. I thought I had another cap but can't find it.

I just put the new print head in and am trying to fill the ink. I wondered if I'm getting an air on the Magenta/Yellow side.

I just opened Versaworks and I'm getting the message, "The printer connected differs from the one being used. Please set the correct model and ink type and verify the port settings". I've never gotten this before.

Also, I'm getting, "The server name or address could not be resolved"

Sounds like something in the step in the rip is different.
do you have multiple “setups” and chose the wrong one?
is printhead different somehow and not allowing machine to initialize?

I thought the print head was the same. It's the DX head. I also checked that the Print head number didn't change after I changed it. When i click print in Versaworks, it closes.

I only have 1 set up. I deleted all the old jobs to clean out the Queue's. The Printer Settings look right and the Status is Ready to Print.

Printer Status page. is not reading the Ink Status or media width.

When click update for ink, I get, Device not found or status not acquired correctly form the device. I swapped USB ports but it didn't do anything.

After in depth checking of the software, my Versaworks says it is up to date to 5.5.1 but I can't see it in my programs list. I tried to update manually and get the Same "The server name or address could not be resolved". It seems my software is not really being recognized. Did they stop supporting VersaWorks?

I initialized the application and it started working. I still don't have black and cyan back but I think I'm done for tonight anyway.
