ISO Ideas for shop walls...

Stacey K

I like making signs
I moved the entire shop around to fit my printer. I took everything off my pegboard walls ugh. Yesterday we touched up all the walls and moved some wires around in the ceiling so I have a little work to do first to clean up a little from moving.

I thought of...

Printing some old signs or old typefont posters - I don't want to look at old brown stuff all day

Large 4'x8' ACM (and a little smaller for the other wall) with spacers on the back of some kind of photo or artwork, maybe some nature scenes?

Do you think that is stupid? If you find that ridiculous, what other kind of photos might look cool and brighten it up a bit? I have a photo of my counter and the rug and stools are pretty bright and cheery so I'd like something on the walls that is bright and cheery also.

I know someone on here had some cool wraps and Geneva has cool walls but I can't do that because of the pegboard.

We have landscape photos printed on our printer and mounted to aluminum panels on standoffs. They are 2x3 and 3x4 in size. One of them is of Bryce Canyon, UT. We get lots of comments and we've sold a couple jobs making similar prints for customers that saw them.

Arial - it's almost helvetica
You could always find a repeatble pattern that you could use in a color scheme that you like. I bought a photo online from a photographer of a train going over a bridge that was taken here locally. I didnt feel like painting the wall to cover up my kids dirty hand and foot prints on the wall behind my desk so it worked out well and was faster.

If I'm lucky, one day I'll be a Eudyptula minor
Our side of the pond, exit is a specific green with the appropriate pictogram and arrow.

I like the idea of both nature and local. I lookled around me, we have foxes, pigeons and weeds. Went for Munsell grey, but that's just colour control obsession.

We have a wall mural in our breakroom/conference room with a photo of a local landmark. Around the studio, we have prints on ultraboard - istock images that we liked. We also have several window banks so we have window graphics in most of them. translucent vinyl (full coverage) on one bank (local landmark), contour cut translucent of our logo in one bank, and perforated vinyl on another bank (with our logo).

Boo on the local landmarks, only print places you'd rather be. That or very old famous paintings that have fallen out of IP protections, or the constitution scan (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6c/Constitution_of_the_United_States,_page_1.jpg), dig around google images with 8mp as the image size and see what looks nice. Print your own stuff at 20 passes for maximum clarity.
Only cuz your land marks suck.
Jk, never been there. I can't really say that. But we have award winning photographs, from a local photographer.

We have fake plants and brick prints lining our shop, people always comment about it when they come in.

On one wall I have part of a banner with an MRAP on it. Other than that some client comps are stuck on the walls. It's really a mish-mash of stuff and doesn't matter since clients won't ever see it.

If I had an actual storefront I would display completed jobs for clients with name recognition. It's a psychological thing for potential clients when they walk in a see you've done stuff for oh I don't know..NASA.(like that show off Geneva :big laugh:)
In a nutshell: Display your best work from the biggest clients. Do some nice gallery wrap canvas or use standoffs with ACM for more visual texture.
