Mounting aluminum or polymetal to pvc or styrene

I was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice for mounting aluminum or polymetal to pvc or styrene to make it thicker. Does anyone have any recommendations on what kind of adhesive to use and if it would even hold up for a long period of time. It is for signs that will be outdoors, we are just trying to make the sign thicker than standard but still have the aluminum or polymetal look. We are trying to make them at least an inch thick.

you can make it have rounded corners and make it a pan. you just have to make the sides have flaps to the depth you want and then patch in the corners with strips with bends shallow enough to fit behind the tabs and bend to the contour of the corner.

like this, where the red would be the scabs.

Or if its like the really thin aluminum we use the 3m Super 90(?) spray adhesive and just press it down really good. Haven't tried anything heavier than the really thin brushed aluminum panels though, and even then we do a whole sheet and route out whatever we need to so we don't have to line up two layers.
