Need advice on install

I have a customer that I am making a 4x8 sign out of polymetal with rounded corners.
I need some advice on what is the best way that looks professional for securing it to the brick/grout surface.
I was thinking about drilling into the grout but I dont really want to see the bolts/screws on the sign.

Any good advice for me?

Paint the screws to match the face. Use the pan head type Spax from Home Depot. They make for a pretty clean install.

I thought of that. Think I could get away with 6 screws?

You could get away with four, but I'd use some Lexel in a few spots.

If no fasteners is a must, VHB tape a couple/few strips of .125" aluminum to the back that have threaded studs welded to them. I'd still use Lexel with țhat method.

I hate seeing attachments.
Does it have to be flush?

Pre-drill tubing and angle for self-tapping screws.

Mechanically fasten square tubing to the wall.

Then I would VHB/Lords Adhesive angles to the back of sign
that allow the angles to slide into place over the
square tubing.

Slide sign into place, screw into place. No visible attachment.

You could also mechanically fasten square tubing to brick, then VHB
sign to it... but it might be problematic getting it off.

On smaller signs, I use pads that mechanically fasten to wall, then panel
is attached to pads via adhesive/VHB

scuff the back of the sign, and use silicone. It will be there forever and it will not fall, of course this will take two trips to install as it will have to be duct taped to wall. I would place about 16 quarter sized "dots" on it and install it, you done need to glob it all over it

Beings that you are in Wisconsin, I think I'd nix on the non-physical fasteners methods.

If you don't want the screws or fasteners to show, you'll have to use either a french cleat of some sort....... or a frame for the wall and a lip on the back of your sign to screw in from the top and bottom.

Apply VHB to those strips and then stick your sign face to that. (make sure it's level!)

Never screw into grout. Too soft. Only into the brick or block.

You think if I do 4 6x6 pieces of polymetal. Screw each one in with two screws/anchors. Then put VHB tape on them. Then apply sign to that. That would hold?

Yes, but I'd add one in the dead center also just for a bit of extra to be sure it doesn't bulge out.
Countersink your screw heads.

If they ever want to change the sign or remove it piano wire or fishing line will get it off the VHB.

I think we order it by the roll from "The Cowboy" or Grimco. Auto parts stores and places like ACE sell it I assume, probably even WallyWorld has it in the tape or automotive section.

Whats the right model number for the VHB tape. Seems like they have a few to choose from.

Pretty sure the 'grey foam' one is the best for this application

Homedepot and Lowes carry VHB tape in the paint section.

Still cant find anything local. If I have to order online. Is the 3M 5952 the best option for this install?

There is no better, cheaper, more stable or simpler way of hanging ANYTHING you don't want to see fasteners on than this. VHB along with even big globs of silicone or adhesive can still fail if you get enough temperature swings over the years.

That's a french cleat. Duh...........

You hafta put a lip in the sign and fasten there. Either using the french cleat or putting a frame on the wall and driving screws down from the top and up from the bottom.
