New client with a one-off project...wants to do ACH payment.

James Burke

Being a grandpa is more fun than working
I've seen it posted numerous times, but I have a new (reputable, and rather large corporation) client who wants to submit payment via ACH. It's a one-off project (boulder engraving), and I highly doubt I'll ever do work for them again since it's going to be a fairly permanent sign.

I have no problem with a W9 and proof of insurance, but I'm reluctant as hell on handing over bank account information for these people.

Please tell me I'm not being an ass.

Your bank routing number and account number are on every check you write, and your clients account numbers are on every check you receive. ACH is my preferred payment method. No fees like credit cards, and funds usually within 24 hours, and I don't have to go to the bank like a cave man.

I have an account I keep little $ in for receiving ACH. There is nothing secret about those numbers. It costs nothing to have multiple accounts at your bank so use one just for ACH
