Hey Folks,

Has anyone tried printing on positive film on a Mutoh VJ for screen printing?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You can set it to 2X, 3X, 4X, whatever you want... It is called Overwrite Count...

be sure to also set the overcount wait so the 1st pass can dry... otherwise you will make a mess.

Can't take credit...

Randy Anderson from Mutoh told me this last week when I asked exactly the same question about my 1604...

Thanks jiarby,

You typically need about 2.5 seconds for the wait time for most 'specialty' medias.
The process is the same for backlit (coated polyesters).

A good backlit profile with double strike may work ok for some line screens but I have always fought pinholes and poor Dmax. I have had much better luck with aqueous Epson printers with this process.

MachServTech,

I have the same experience. I have not actually run any film positive that I like.
I have heard that Magic (Intellicoat) has one that works.

But you are absolutely right, this has been an aqueous application.
