Precision Board...What primer?

Hi...Im working on an exterior sign using precision board. Can I prime it with Zinsser Bulls Eye 123 or do I HAVE to use the FSC-88WB?? Thanks in advance for any advice.

the good thing about the fsc is its a filler primer to seal up the open cells of the cut foam, and it sands beautifully

And you don't think that the Bulls Eye would do the same thing? Is it because the FSC is thicker? Thank you for your reply

+1 for fsc. I use it on Signfoam brand.

If memory serves, my good friend (and 101 member) Karyn Bush had a nightmare with Precision Board primer bubbling up after installing a very pricey routed sign, and she had to strip it and repaint.
I think I'd opt for the Zinsser.

Never liked the fsc wb. I have been using Stix. It works a lot like the old grey sign prime.

we really like the TSF 45 for priming surfaces. You won't be spraying that stuff though.

I have a customer that has great luck with high build automotive primer.

For this project I'm using the 15lb. Is Stix similar to Bulls Eye? Never heard of Stix...perhaps not available in Canada? Thanks everyone for your responses.

We've tried them all. Stick with the FSC, you will be happy you did.

Yes, it's not high build. Will take a lot of paint to prime it properly. What you save in material (paint) costs you will burn up in labor with countless coats of 'regular' primer. HDU sucks up A LOT of paint.

The single greatest time saver when using HDU is starting with a denser product. I know it doesn't help you now, but any surface we are painting is never less than a 30b density. We'll use 15 and 18 for the core, but always 30b on faces.

I like the sign foam brand, seems to get the smoothest of the one's we have tried.
