Roland XC-540 Cyan Head Malfunction

We have a Roland XC-540 and one of the cyan heads is malfunctioning. We have replaced the cap top with no change and cleaned. Does anyone have any suggestions how to address this further? Any ideas are welcome!

Hope this helps--when printing the head test head A is only printing half of the cyan (the entire right side is missing). All of the other heads are printing the full test pattern.

Change the Damper maybe? You should manually pull ink with syringe from each of the Cyan dampers to see if you get flow.
 
If you are losing ink on one side it is usually a bleed back issue. The cap top generally effects both sides of the head. Look into the damper as suggested by CyberSupply. The nipple that the damper plugs into on top of the print head may have a crack in it too. It's a closed system so these issues are usually caused by an air leak from someplace.

We have the xc-540 and first see if the ink line going to that side of the head has ink in it, it could be just an air bubble. If there is no ink in the line disconnect the line from the pump and draw ink through using a syringe. Do a normal clean. If just air problem the head will come back. You may not have a good seal on the capping station, so check the ink line every once in a while. If you loose it again replace the damper and check to see if the whole capping station assembly has shifted. you may need to realign it. For some reason they have a habit of coming loose. hope this helps

swap cyan dampers/lines and see if the issue moves. (put the working line on the non-working manifold position. also, pull a vacuum on that no working damper/line. does the membrane stay concave or relax after a minute?

Shut your printer off completely and pull the cyan ink cartridges. The odds are one of the cartridges is empty and the flag didn't come out and trip the ink empty micro-switch. The reason for turning the printer off is the internal ink level display won't be reset. You may have to do a power clean or two on that group to reprime the head.
 
Jim is right - the first and easiest thing to check is the ink cartridge. Sometimes the ink depletes without the printer knowing, and you end up sucking air instead of ink, especially the third party brands.
