Translucent Vinyl Reverse Application

I can't believe this is the first time I have done this...but apparently I have never reverse applied cut translucent vinyl to clear acrylic with a color background and white letters. Usually I would use white acrylic and apply first surface, but it's a small job and I have some clear cut offs that wIll work. So my question is...I will cut the lettering reversed out of translucent green. Then apply white translucent vinyl. Do I flood coat the whole back with the white (as we would have sprayed white spraylat in the old days) or do I cut the letters (with a bit of overlap) and apply just the letters? Does applying white translucent over the whole back darken the green translucent?

+1 I really like this idea. You eliminate the "shadow" created by the overlap!
