That would be a male form of measurement. 3,4,5,6,
on the first day of "wood shop" in 1965, the shop teacher passed around a piece of wood, and everyone got a sheet of paper, an envelope and a pencil
everyone was told to take as long as you need, it was critical to get an exact measurement...
then you signed your name and sealed the envelope
everyone had already answered the question: OF COURSE I KNOW HOW TO USE A TAPE MEASURE

We must be about the same age. My first day of 'wood shop', ol' Mr. Guss came out and motioned for us to sit down. With his outstretched hand, he was missing the first 2 digits. Later, we saw he was missing a digit on the other hand, too. I still have my name plate and stool we made.

my first job after high school was working for krauszer's a dairy store chain with a manufacturing plant
my father was one of their top people, he had eight fingers, missing one on each hand
nick krauszer was the oldest of 3 brothers, he had 9 fingers.
i was one of the few who stayed for almost 10 years, was promoted till there was no where else to go & still left with 10 fingers
