i'm just glad you guys are talking about tariffs again, and not just parrot'd TDS ramblings.
should just setup ChatGPT to automate this thread discussion to 100pages while we sit back and drink all this Kentucky Bourbon.

Tequila Reposado for me please!
that's actually my new favorite shot since cinco de mayo this year. realized I dislike Blanco for its grain alcohol finish, but repasado has that smooth bourbon kick.

someone introduced me to a "puerto rican hooker" and now I drink them 3x/week.
its a shot of tequila with a pickle juice chaser with bonus points for a couple dashes of tabasco in the pickle juice.

Loving the Reposado myself it has that aged distinction that you speak of I have like triple shot with a squeeze of lime and ice its sipping style not a "shot" very refined.
I was taught a lot form a Mexican friend of mine and the crap tequila they sold the gringos ... lemon and salt delivery was ruse just to mask the turpentine taste from the unsuspecting noobs.
Went on Tequila and Mezcal tour of distilleries in Mexico and I was utterly impressed!

If this thread has devolved into what're we drinking, I'm all in.
My days of hard liquor are over, I've moved into ipa territory for better or worse. Lagunitas original & beast of both worlds, Dogfishhead 90 minute, Sierra Nevada Torpedo are on constant rotation. My wife ordered a blue moon during the fourth, didn't want to finish it, and I nearly gagged when she gave it to me.
Last hard liquor I bought was some grey goose on clearance for reasons unknown...

my regular beer order wherever I go, is a "surprise me IPA"
toppling goliath & surley breweries being my favorites but I'll take any IPA over any other beer.

That's a negative, here in Ontario the LCBO ( Liquor control boards of Ontario ) is government run and is solely consignment. Add to that fact that Canadians and myself included have been boycotting American products because of the heavy handed Trump approach. This is just Bourbon from one state.

Google AI synopsis:
  • Economic Impact:
Kentucky Distillers' Association reports that over 23,000 bourbon-related jobs in the state are threatened by the tariffs.

  • Export Decline:
Canada's removal of American-made liquor from its shelves has directly impacted sales for distilleries like Brough Brothers, with the CEO estimating potential losses of $250,000.

  • Retaliatory Measures:
Canada and the EU have imposed tariffs on American whiskey, including a 25% tariff by Canada and a 50% tariff by the EU on American whiskey.

  • Governor's Plea:
Kentucky Governor has publicly appealed to Canadian leaders to lift the tariffs, highlighting the negative impact on the state's economy and the potential loss of market share to foreign competitors.

  • Industry Concerns:
The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States has expressed concern that the tariffs will undermine efforts to rebuild US spirits exports in Europe.

  • Public Sentiment:
Some bourbon makers in Kentucky have reported receiving hate mail from Canadians due to the tariffs, according to a CBC News report.

  • Industry Efforts:
The Kentucky Distillers' Association is actively working to address the challenges and advocating for a resolution to the trade dispute.
I have been a CBC listener for years, but the idea of any level headed Canadians sending hate mail to bourbon makers in Kentucky is ridiculous. Like everything else the CBC does they are probably blowing it way out of scale.

Maybe once the tariff crap is out of the way we can have a Friday afternoon tasting party. Kind of like an online book club, but better.

Connemara Irish Whiskey, not much history behind this brand, but enjoyable. Beer seems to taste better on holidays so Norrlands Gold, Mariestads Export and Guinness. Though if I have the choice, a beer with meat on the bones (the darker the better), not the toilet water that the major brands piss out.

not opposed to the occasional stout.
love me some Guiness, but Bourbon County Stout by Goose Island tops them all, especially if you allow it to age a couple of years.
just had a bottle last month from the 2017 batch, super good! looked it up online and people are selling them for $250, but I've always just gotten them at retail from my beer nerd friends that wait in line on release days.

There's crackheads on both sides of the isle. I'm sure 1 far left liberal sent them a gloating email saying they'll be buying from Canada.... Then CBC overview it out of proportion.
