I have the font itself one color with an outline and block shadow another color. How do I weld the outline and shadow together since they are the same color so I can cut?

If i understood you right and if you're using flexi, then you need to separate the effect first before doing that or you can use the the last effect on the " drop" shadow effect list, that has both outline and shadow together.

Separate the effects, select both the outline and drop shadow and weld.
