Not wanting to freak you out but we had a problem very similar which required a new head. The engineer referred to it as "nozzle deflection". He believed it to have been caused by head strikes!

I definitely agree with needing laminate. Not only does it protect the print from scratches as mentioned but I also find it makes the material so much easier to apply.

Hi Paul, you get different types of tapes with different tack levels eg - low, medium, & high tack. You might have one with a lower tack. Also when your removing it make sure you pull it off at a 180 degree angle and not 90 degree towards yourself. This should help all been well

Hi, I had a very similar problem that was cured by cleaning the linear encoder strip which the print head runs across. You'll see pics of it online. I just rubbed it gently with a soft cloth.

I complained to Roland as when it was first released it was only supplied with new machines! A bit pissed off when you spend almost 20 grand and can't get a copy. Was hoping for some useful improvements but so far nothing worthwhile. Deals with transparencies better but that about it. Still no...
My apologies, I see its only compatible with the sp300i :-( I had the link saved in my emails from when Roland sent it to me.

Hi, You don't have to cut along the flute to bend corriboard.i think you get a much neater edge if you cut across the flutes. Try on a scrap piece and you'll see what I mean. Just cut through half way and bend it and you get a lovely straight edge. Also does away with the problem of the blade...
I'm running an xr640 and sp540 from 4 machines all using Windows 10 so can't see that been the problem. Does Versaworks dual work with it do you know?

Try sending a test cut from the printer menu to see if that cuts or try selecting a different media we "generic vinyl". Cutting is disabled for certain media's. This can be changed in the media setting menu which you'll find in the menu bar at the top.

Hi, can anyone tell me if there's any way to adjust the amount of media which is automatically fed by the machine after it cuts the sheet? The reason I ask is I'm using the custom sheet setting to improve accuracy when cutting stickers. I've see the versaworks to cut 10mm after the last print...
Hi, I hope you don't mind me asking but would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the roland sp540i service manual. Any help would be much appreciated. My email address is Davystevenson999@gmail.com
Thanks
Davy
