  1. Phototex sheets

I've been playing with Phototex sample roll and like how its coming out with my SP300. I see that you can buy Phototex in sheets 11 x 17". What printer / cutter can you work with this size sheets? Some things I want to print and cut would fit on a sheet and if I can free up the wide format...
  2. Workflow with printer and Plotter

Big thanks for the responses. Now I'm starting to understand how this all works. Looks like it will cost more than I thought to do this if I also have to invest in other rip software. Off to learn more about rip software. It never ends, does it?
  3. Workflow with printer and Plotter

Looks sleek and $$$. But will it only work with Summa line? That's what I'm trying to determine. Guess I'll call vendor tomorrow. I thought many here use separate printers to plotters so they would know if plotters could read other printer's files. Still new trying to figure this stuff out.
  4. Workflow with printer and Plotter

That's what I was wondering if the plotters read files from different manufacturers or only their own. I hope to get a larger plotter for down the road when I have a larger printer so I'm not so limited in future.
  5. Workflow with printer and Plotter

Hi all, I'm considering a plotter to help with workflow when my SP300 is busy printing. Yes, I know, I read this would happen when you have a print/cut machine and also need to laminate but starting out, this I felt was the best route to go. My question is, how do you work with the files that...
  6. Equivalent to 220

What would be the equilvalent to 220 vinyl used on a Gerber that I could use on my sp300? Want that super high sticking performance in a 2ml.
  7. Cutting mats - To Grid or Not to Grid?

Sure, now the grids guys come out. Haven't bought yet so will have to think more. I will be doing alot of cutting that I would need to square the cuts. Many of you mention putting a grid underneath. I presumed it wasn't see through. Thought it would be like my white kitchen cutting board. No...
  8. Cutting mats - To Grid or Not to Grid?

Thanks for all the input. No Grid it is AND its cheaper so you saved me some $$. I love this forum!! :loveya:
  9. Cutting mats - To Grid or Not to Grid?

I want to get a 4' x 8' cutting mat for my table but see there are two different types. One with a grid and one without. What do most of you use? The gridded is substantially more - about 65% more in price - so want to know if it's worth the extra $$. Thanks!

  11. How would you like this sign job?

I meant to post this and don't think anyone has before. Article about the huge olympic wraps and signage around Vancouver. 3M is an Olympic sponsor. Imagine doing that job. Article here The freestyle skier is probably the most photographed image and its really great to see. This is from...
  12. Alternative brand for cutting system

Thanks Gene. I was hoping I could find something similar through distributor in Canada so I don't have to pay those nasty duty charges. I'll use those guys as last resort.
  13. Alternative brand for cutting system

My supplier no longer carries the cutting system from Image Edge. It's very simple - cutting blade goes into a track and you have a straight edge built in. Similar to using a metal ruler and exacto knife but easier to keep cut on 'track'. This is around $100 or less while the one they replaced...
  14. What to do with PITA client and a job that has gone south.

I don't know material wise what you can do but can recommend what to do customer service wise. Given that they've used you before and it was all good then, this is a hiccup. You most likely will get another job in future when they open more studios. Besides, if it was a crap job, it should be...
  15. 3M 180cV3

I'm finding it's the 180cv3 that has a really strong odour. The smell is really smelly compared to other vinyl I've tried. Am I only one who's noticed?
  16. Phototex

Caleb, how are you cutting the photo tex? Such a small cut AND in a circle seems like it would be hard to cut. I ask because as I'm reading up on photo tex in this forum and most seem to have difficulty cutting it - pulling, fraying etc. Any tips you can pass on? I'm waiting for my photo tex...
  17. Today Show - Coming Up in a few minutes- Piece on Vehicle wraps!

$6000 a year for vehicle wrap ad is a lot cheaper than a couple of decent black & white ads in the city newspaper that only last one day.

  19. Today Show - Coming Up in a few minutes- Piece on Vehicle wraps!

Saw it this morning. Great plug for vehicle wraps. We have a few mini's in our community with advertising like that. It's a win win. Get paid for driving around where you would go anyway and the advertiser gets a moving 'billboard'. I think the company name was Driven Media that hired the...
