When looking into UV LED printers/cutters, we were wondering if the clear coat option would work similar to laminating when it came to decals.
Sometimes people only need decals to last 12 to 18 months and if this could save as from laminating on some jobs it would be a bonus with these...
I tried it and wrote on some of the Roland paper we have with my blue ink pen and then wet it and didnt smear at all. The adhesive has good grip, its pretty stiff paper and has a coating so they say its weatherproof.
Found this video on the Rolands site about it...
We've just got in some Roland glossy paper with adhesive for posters that we've been playing with. We found it to be water resistant and it seems to have a good adhesive to it. I'll try marking a sample with pen and see how it reacts.
Maybe a supplier sells it for less than a full roll?
I've looked at MSDS sheets before for other information but afraid it may be called some type of chemical compound that I don't know means lead.
I've seen some people saying it's non toxic but don't know where they got that info. Does that mean you can drink it?
Didn't know nickel...
Had a customer ask if our inks were lead free. I said I would try to find out but seems harder to find out than I thought.
I had presumed no but now not sure if our printing inks do have lead in them like paint. We use the Eco-sol inks from Roland and can only find through marketing speak...
Just looked at his site and blog. WOW! Amazing work and had no idea that this greatness was in my own backyard.
Dan, you write well too. Love the story about your granddaughter and her sign.

Facebook is pay per click. Not sure if it would be good for sign biz. You can target ads to location and peoples interests, age and marital status. Not sure if someone would have signage as an interest.
It's good for someone who has a golf shop and is trying to target someone who lives in...
I haven't used Yellow pages in years. Always Google. You don't have to do adwords.
Make sure you sign up for a local listing on Google so the locals can find you. Also be sure to have what you do on your website with lots of text as well as in the blue bar at the top of the page. Include you...
I've heard great things but drawback is how hot it needs to get. Determine what media you are wanting to print and then check to see if that media can take the heat while printing.
Lots of media listed good/bad in these threads that you can search out.
We've always used an matte vinyl setting and never had any issues. Also chose high quality rather than standard for coverage so maybe more ink helps too.
We've used one of the matte vinyl settings within versaworks and it's been fine. That's what they recommend too I believe. We print and cut right away full bleed with no issues. We've changed over to Seramark recently because it's whiter and not as see through.
We've been experimenting...
I wanted to try Seramark brand after seeing it mentioned here as alternative to phototex. Has anyone in Canada found a distributor or bought from US side? Duties?
Trying to get sample to try and find out what costs would be in comparison to phototex.
I tried emailing company but they don't...
I have a Roland SP300 and have had no problems with hundreds of half inch laminated decals. Maybe because my machine is slower that helps keep cuts accurate?
Always line it up straight with the bit of ridge on printer to keep straight and no problems with laminated registration marks. Knock...
Thanks VinylMan.
WOW I can't believe desktop printers are that good a print for decals etc. Now I know why there are so many people doing those wall decals. That printer and a desktop plotter/cutter (I presume thats what is used) is small investment.
Will look further into it. Thanks for...
