  1. Mimaki CG130FX error

Each of the pinch-rollers has a small plastic tab on it - An optical sensor on the back of the carriage detects each of these tabs. I'm guessing that the plastic tab my have broken off the 3rd pinch roller.
  2. Wanted: JV5 Head Relay PCBs

This is probably a bit of a long-shot but unfortunately (as some of you may already know) Mimaki USA is horribly back-ordered on a number of their parts at the moment. In particular I'm looking for several Head Relay PCBs. This is the small board which the Heads connect to that piggy-backs onto...
  3. Moving Mimaki JF 1631

Think very carefully before moving this yourself! Without removing the Gantry from the Table and packing it so that there is no weight placed on the raising/lowering mechanism you run a real risk of damaging the worm-gears and Z-motors. As someone who has had to undertake the daunting task of...
  4. Wanted: JV3 160S Main PCB

Hey all, We're currently rebuilding an old JV3-160S and need a brain for it. What we're looking for is a Main PCB for a JV3-S model (Not SP). i.e. for a machine with three print heads, not four. The correct board would have slots for 6 large ribbon cables (not 8 like on the SP) and will most...
  5. JV33 Head Issues

Before you do that grab a flashlight and take a look at the bottom of the Heads from underneath. When incorrectetly adjusted or maintained JV3's have a nasty habit of running the Heads into the screws on the Capping Station and scratching the center of the Head surface.
  6. Non-Original INK!!!!!!!

Try giving the contacts on the chip a clean with a pencil eraser or an alcohol swab. If this doesn't help try putting a cartridge of the wrong color ink in this same slot in the JV3 - If you get the message "COLOR OF INK" you'll know that the chip reader in this position is good. If you still...
  7. Anybody selling JV3 print heads?

Robert at Signage Specialist in Colorado provides a very reliable product for an excellent price and is great to deal with... 303-733-6671 http://www.signagespecialist.com
  8. JV33 Head Issues

You could... but I wouldn't. By creating negative pressure on the nozzles which have the valves closed off you'll cause them to suck up waste ink from the Cap once the Syringe is released. Best to just waste a little ink and draw on all the lines equally.
  9. Chipless cartridges & firmware

Put the printer in <LOCAL> and then hit the ENTER key several times to scroll through the different error messages - There are many reasons the printer may not like the Ink Cartridges so know the exact error message will help narrow it down. 5.1 FW should recognize SS2 Inks just fine. Post your...
  10. overspray on black head jv3-160s

Taking advice from Mike Falia?! Oh no, now your machine is in serious trouble ;)
  11. New Head

and is the only manufacturer of these print heads. Setting up a plant to manufacture Print Heads is insanely expensive so there really is no such thing as a Chinese "knock-off" of an Epson Head... Just shady Chinese resellers of the originals! Just make sure if you're putting a head originally...
  12. JV3 1394 Board

Definitely don't touch the DIP switches! The real key here is to see whether the Mimaki is being seen by Windows. Looking in the Device Manager you should see to items "Mimaki Printer Port" and "Mimaki Status Port". Also, the board, if it was brand new may have FW too recent to be compatible...
  13. Chipless cartridges & firmware

Personally I would look into getting a set of the "endless-chips" and use these with your current FW. By using old FW you'll be losing many improvements/bug-fixes/features of the new, plus if you mess up the FW downgrade you'll have a dead printer on your hands - Not trying to be a merchant of...
  14. The Ultimate Guide to Fixing Banding!

I think it would be very interesting to do a little poll of what RIP those people with banding (particularly in light colors) are running. I already have my suspicions as to what the most common answer will be!
  15. JV3 1394 Board

Get yourself a parallel cable and run your printer using that. It will print quite slowly but at least you'll still be able to get jobs out.
  16. JV3-250SP Error 09 HDC

If the problem is intermittent (i.e. switching between Error 07 and Error 09) then you may have a problem with the main FPC Cables that run between the Slider PCB and the Main PCB. It's not uncommon for these to be sliced by a sharp edge on one of the covers or to have the flex wear through...
  17. JV3 SPEED? and a couple more questions

The proper spec for a JV3 Head in "Thin" is exactly 2mm. Google tells me that this is 0.078740157 in inches! If you can't source a set of metric feeler gauges then 2mm Di-Bond works very well for this purpose. There are many ways to "Slow Down" the printer... * Switch from Bi-directional to...
  18. New yellow head, not drawing ink.

Uh oh. You're not going to like this... Usually (i.e. 9.9 times out of 10) not getting a single drop of ink from any of the Heads indicates an electrical problem :( I would disconnect all your cables again and scrutinize them for any shorted contacts/damage/burn-marks. I hate to be a merchant...
  19. jv3 in low or high mode?

Actually the JV3 is actually capable of storing two separate sets of calibrations, one for THIN and one for THICK it's just that there has always been considerable misunderstanding (thanks Mimaki!) of how to tell it which one to use. The JV3-SPII machines (75/130) actually have a sensor inside...
  20. CG - 75 print cut problems... Please help Mimaki pros.

Still having problems? So you're saying that your cuts start off accurately but gets progressively scaled in the feed direction? If you have access to the #ADJUST menu and a Plotter Pen then there is a pattern you can run called "400mm Square" which is exactly what it sounds like. Try running...
