  1. Print Media Drying Racks?

the problem with just leaving things on the takeup roller is that they get tightly wound, this significantly prevents outgassing of the solvents. If you choose to leave it like that, I'd suggest releasing the tension throughout the roll so that there's breathing room for the solvents to...
  2. Ink Fish Eye

Even if media is covered remember that this is winter time. Cold== dry conditions, we heat the media when printing, when you take it off it cools, if you cover it immediately you can get minute condensation on the surface, if you don't you can get dust. Since this only happens in black I would...
  3. Need to buy head for Mutoh 1604

If it were me, I'd get my head from Romy, she's a merchant member here, and a member of my network. Call her and get a price. http://www.signs101.com/forums/member.php?u=23832
  4. What Would You Do?

Foridesign, I want you to think about something. and trust me I'm not doing this to bash you in anyway. I started in this industry about 20 years ago, and only got into it, because I had a friend that needed someone reliable to work with, I didn't know a buttload about printing, but I'm pretty...
  5. Parts is parts

    correct
  6. Parts is parts

There is a time and place for everything. Aftermarket parts are a great way of saving some money.... Provided you can find good quality parts. Most times it's just not worth the hassle. That being said, buying heads is another matter, a DX4 printhead is a DX4 printhead. You get one from mimaki...
  7. Ink Fish Eye

actually this could be caused by several things. It could be pooling caused by heat to low. It could be pooling caused by media contamination. It could be ink drops from a blown damper. Any pix that you could post would help in diagnosing the issue.
  8. Perforated banner material - outdoor use?

ultraflex has mesh that prints well on a mimaki and is very durable, we used to use it on the tops of all the garages at a racetrack. held up against some high winds.
  9. Roland camm-1 CX24 communication problem

most likely you don't have the usb driver for the roland, while it will see the new piece of hardware, it doesn't know how to communicate with it. I'd suggest going to roland's site, and getting a USB driver for the cutter.
  10. Color profiles for 9000s

    what rip are you using?
  11. buying artwork

since your logo is your brand, using an image that others could use is counter productive. For example; in the early 1800's a little soft drink company brands it's name by designing it's own font, but neglects to trademark it, 100 years later some battery acid company comes around decides...
  12. Your website?

I'll put my newest one up, but it's not alot to work on, still working out the content I want in there. www.grfxsolutions.com
  13. Need some help with this

between all the bots ( google, yahoo, msn, etc) hitting the site continuously through the day, every minute of every day, 24 hours a day, it may not be the best idea around. Add to this the fact that everyone that visits a website is uniquely identified by an IP address ( not an actual name)...
  14. Whats Everybody Do In The Off Season??

When y'all find yourselves slow, I find myself extremely busy. Since I'm in the service end of the industry, this is prime time for those busy shops to catch up on the maintenance that needs handling. Better to do it when it's slow, then have it go down when you're busy.
  15. I hate some people.....

I feel for you, we've all had clients like this. I've fired a couple through the years, but before I do, I've always done this dance with the problematic ones. I've given them ample opportunity to unf*ck themsemselves, they either do, and we've continued to do business, or they don't, and I'm...
  16. Floor Banner roll up print or vinyl?

I wouldn't use cut vinyl for a roll up. The last company I worked for, had 2 large vinyl shops as part of the company, they were always particular about the way that the banners were rolled ( ie: cut vinyl side rolled outward) That being said, if you're going to go through the trouble of...
  17. Printing on packaging paper?

I've printed on some of the most insane things with my jv3, dial back the ink limiting, and you should be fine. provided you aren't trying to print a full color image, I can't see why it wouldn't at least give you something you could use.
  18. HP9000 banding issue

I'm with machtech on this, the 9000/10000 are getting on in years, and lately I've seen a rash of printers with worn trolley plates caused by accumulation of crap on the upper rail. This typically presents itself as VERTICAL banding and is normally consistent across the platen, but, there's...

  20. Graphix Unlimited Sign

About 3.5 years ago, I installed a temporary sign at a local mall. it was slightly smaller then 5x10' 1/2" Sintra with a digital print and extruded letters on the face. Since it was supposed to be temporary, we used VHB ( it was supposed to be up only for the Christmas season) The store did so...
