  1. Backup power supply

Excellent feedback from everyone. I was just double checking on what everyone was using because the unit I specd was around $900. Thought that was nuts at first, but can't afford any damage either. Thanks, "signage", on the calculations.
  2. Backup power supply

Any suggestions on temporary backup power supplies for a digital printer?? I am looking for a unit to support a Roland SP540i which uses 7.6amps and 1030watts.

Your style resembles a lot of the old school tattoo artists...nice flow, contrast and balance. Just curious, do you hang around ink shops for "artistic inspiration"? Would love to see this as a dimensional sign or on the side of a panel van.
  5. adhesive

Ditto. I would also finish with a 70% alcohol/30% water mix before applying new vinyl

My guess is he's using the font Conclave from Letterheadfonts.com...and Yes the numbers are sweet. I saw one artist using them on a dirt modified race car; would have never thought it could work, but it looked great.

I've been playing with that font for years. That's a tough font to work with because the legibility is difficult, but your choice of colors really makes it pop. Nice effect with the wood grain in grey and not too loud. Now I am being picky here knowing you did a real nice job, but see if the...
  8. Where are my Bad Wrap updates???

Once you learn how to make your own templates in Photoshop, it will save you a ton of money and be a lot more accurate
  9. Racing Font(s) I.D.

Go to www.signdna.com and look at "Caz Fat" or "Lone Wolf" for the Honey Run font. I am not finding a match for Tom Rolfe...it's close to a modified "Serpentine" if you want to get it close, but I am stuck on that one.
  10. laminator

thanks for posting on this subject....you just confirmed my purchase of a new laminator
  11. Not sure what to charge

I'd try to get $650-$750 each if they provided artwork
  12. laminator

Well, that narrowed my search. It looks like there's a lot of crap out there. I worked in R&D shops and machine shops for 15 years; I could probably design my own :)
  13. laminator

Same here, I am losing so much money subbing it out. I can't find many artists inthe sign industry in my area. People just buy machines and hit buttons. I heard the GBC is also a good product, but I never demo'd any...still undecided
  14. Laminator roller size

Does smaller roller diameters on a laminator only dictate slower speed of the machine or does it produce lamination with more "Silvering" ??
  15. Flexi can open what Illustrator can't WTF ?

I had this problem also and found out if I tried to OPEN the file directly from Illustrator it never worked, but if I COPY and PASTED it from my Desktop OR placed it on my Desktop and DRAG it into Illustrator it worked. Not sure why, but it did. I don't think it matters what version a EPS file...
  16. laminator

I am also looking at the SEAL 62 Ultra C Plus which is a low to medium volume machine with smaller roller diameters, but it is expensive ($6,200). The SEAL 54 Base is a high production model. Depends a little on your budget. There's a lot of re-labeled products also(be aware). I am also...
