FATCAGT thanks I just bought a track saw off ebay. I'll report back how well it works.
Jester1167 Thanks for that idea, I have done that in the past on occasion. I cut the sheets into other sizes so I didn't do that this time, maybe next time I will go this route since it saves...
Trust me your guesstimate of four hrs is totally wrong
your telling me it takes 2 minutes to measure and cut out a panel? Sounds good in your head theory but in real life youve got to move the sheets and doing it one at a time is slow
a 4 foot shear is not practical due to expense and size
the reviews i've read says the track has a little side to side wooble, but other wise is good. anyone use it to cut polycarboante yet?
the tenru blades are about $60 on ebay. total cost over $300 for the set up to cut down 4x8 sheets.
when you have 8 of them that's half an inch thick and yes it is heavy. I know because I actually tried it! I'll bet you a $100 you can't lift eight sheets by yourself with your bare hands.
. And cutting it with a straight edge and knife is what we do now and it's not working. This is about...
So it took 3 guys to cut 8 sheets of 1/16" thick lexan over a table saw with plastic cutting blade the sheets were put ona piece of plywood to make it easier but it still a pain
now i could make a huge 16 ft long table extnsion but these sheets are so heavy!
Not sure that would help and it eat...
i found this ONE vendor
http://www.rssupplyinc.com/abs_woodgrain.aspx
but their product is rather expensive, does anyone know of a similar woodgrain plastic sheet? I prefer Chery oak, but any medium toned woodgrain plastic sheet is fine.
I can't use plastic laminate because it cracks too easily...
I need to make a lot of 15" long by 1/2" thick strips for some Point of sale displays for structural reasons and they need to be clear since I'm using back lit LED's
anyone use 1/2" clear plastic and have scraps to sell me on a somewhat regular basis? They need to be 15" long in one direction...
i've bought acrylic from them before and they did get me some 6mm coroplast when no one else in town had any in stock, but otherwise their prices are usualy much higher than the competition.
I'll call them and see if they have any, but in prior years they have not.
I love this film
http://www.rowlux.com/
The problem is that it only comes 24" wide
Anyone know a similar product that is 36" or wider?
Or a way to seam it and make it look nice?
Ive tried glues but they destroy the diffraction grating
I've called them before
http://www.tekra.com/sites/default/files/polycarbonate/SABIC%20SFS%20Film%20Brochure.pdf
their films are typically more expensive than "standard" 1/16" thick polycarbonate.
from talking to many film companies they all seem to agree that a film is .030" or less in...
does anyone know any companies that offer spandex/sublimation print services?
Hi I'm looking for a company that can sublimate onto spandex at least 4 feet wide, prerably much wider. any leads are appreciated?
I have ordered this material 1/16" white polycaronate from Sybic Polymershapes in Charlotte, NC for the last several years. However, they only have two brands
white lexan
sunguard by spartech plastics ( a bit more transparent than lexan brand)
and they are almost never in stock. I literally buy...
because solid surface plastic is $30 a sq ft and 1/16th white poly carb is $2/sq ft. It also needs to be portable and durable, and not crack like solid surface would.
a burnishing wheel is what you need

is a cheap on efor...
Well I made it and I deffinetely did not heat roll it, though I was wondering if there was a way to heat it and basically "set" the curve. maybe put a hot air blower inside for 5 to 10 minutes and cap it off just enough to soften it , but not distort it?
I like the butt joint idea. maybe i'll...
Here is what I am making.
for the photos I've just got the 1/16" thick polycarbonate taped in the back.
I was thinking of using WELDON#3 to lap joint the back seam. I would give it about a 1" overlap.
It would be amazing if I could somehow NOT have a seam, but I have no idea how one...
