For wide-format, HP is the #1,2, and 4 printer in the ENTIRE industry. Epson, Roland, and Mutoh COMBINED make up #3. HP does the best job against those brands FYI.

They are probably using the Chromalux dye sub metal panels and they look AMAZING!! You can get into Dye sub for fairly cheap but you will need a good heat press to go with it.

What brands have you tried? This is the Senfa Decoprint Pearl and is an industry leading backlit World Wide.

I carry a few super high end backlit fabrics specifically for Latex if you are interested.

All paints are low VOC so you will probably have the same problem. It would be easy to use a traditional wallpaper stock instead of vinyl. The Roma 880 paste will act as a primer on the wall which will allow your material to stay on.
