  1. Need recommendation for entry level flatbed cutter

I was looking at colex for flatbed cutter. I can't afford it for now. Is there other options less expensive and compatible with caldera rip? I want to either buy a less expensive model or wait 2-3 years to buy a colex (or similar).
  2. Suggestions how to cut 50 pieces of vinyl effectively

wow! That's like a manual fotoba. Very interesting and I could use this daily. I will contact them to get more information. It will be probably too late for this job, but I'm interested. Thank you.
  3. Suggestions how to cut 50 pieces of vinyl effectively

I have a 48in wide roll to textured frosted vinyl that need to be cut in piece of 48inX24in. I can't slit the roll because the pattern of the material is on the length of the roll. I don't have access to a machine like a fotoba and I think the texture is to roughs and thick to be cut with my...
  4. Question Laser Machine Newbie

I have a thunder laser since last november. I have the 63inX40in 130w. I use it mainly to cut and engrave acrylic to make signalizations in buildings. Price wise, it was 1/3 of trotec. From the test/demo I've made, yes trotec is better but not for that price difference. Plus, I have a local...
  5. Laserable transfer tape recommendation

No problem at all. Hit me up when you want. I prefer a single sheet than lot of strip since I will be making mostly smaller stuff. The reason why gemini put strip is because they want us to put silicone between the strip for extra strength. I never did it and never got a problem.
  6. Laserable transfer tape recommendation

And what do you use for thicker or foam tape that would be also available in 48in?
  7. Laserable transfer tape recommendation

I've asked Gemini and they told me they are using orabond 3594. But If I check the specifications, it has a red liner. The letters I've ordered in the past all had white paper liner with blue oracal logo on it. Maybe it's because I'm in Canada? I've bought a thunder laser in December. It's a...
  8. Laserable transfer tape recommendation

I've found their website to see the specifications. From the information there, it seems their tapes are not available over 2in wide. Is it because it would be a special order? Is it something that you have experience with with for the specification I'm looking for?
  9. Laserable transfer tape recommendation

I'm making acrylic signs using my laser. Right now, I'm using VHB tape but I'm looking for something I could install on the sheet of acrylic and cut everything with the laser. It will be mostly for small sign like 6inX6in but it could be 1/2 thick acrylic sometime. If I could use this same...
  10. Nesting plug-in for illustrator

I would prefer to keep it inside illustrator for convenience and speed. And I can have some things with alot of details or group that I will prefer to keep in the nesting like point and accent in letters.
  11. Nesting plug-in for illustrator

For my prints I use Caldera that has the nesting function but I can't output the result for my laser. This why I need it to be done inside illustrator.
  12. Nesting plug-in for illustrator

I'm working on PC, so it's not a problem. Right now this one is on the top of my list, but looking for feedback on other options.
  13. Nesting plug-in for illustrator

We just got our laser 2 months ago and I'm looking for a good nesting plug-in for illustrator. Thanks.
  14. Washed out colors with illuminated lightboxes

I have the 700w. I will try that next time. I've never thought of the 3 layers print for this application.
  15. Looking for a fotoba digitrim or xy cutter

That is exactly the point, I do not have 100k$ to buy a flatbed. I need to buy something ALOT cheaper for now. Sure, if I had the 100k$, I would buy a flatbed right now. But that is not the case. I need something below 30k$ ideally.
  16. Looking for a fotoba digitrim or xy cutter

I don't ment the colex won't do the job. Just I can't afford it right now. For certain jobs like longer panels, the xy will be faster. So when I'll buy a flatbed, I will keep the xy for those jobs.
  17. Looking for a fotoba digitrim or xy cutter

Colex is on top of my list with esko. Just can't afford it for now. And for what I'm looking to do right now, the digitrim or xy cutter will be faster.
  18. Looking for a fotoba digitrim or xy cutter

I've looked at mirua and they seems pretty descent. I just wish they had the auto square like fotoba. We do lots of small quantity, so cutting in two passes for the xy is interesting to us. I also found two Chinese machine with good feedback. But again, no auto square. Flatbed will be my next...
  19. Looking for a fotoba digitrim or xy cutter

Oh! Don't worry. I'm looking at fotoba cutters for quite some time. It's just a matter of budget. I would buy a XLA in a heartbeat if I could afford it.
