I use a window tint squeegee. Just need to wet the surface to make it glide. I use the same tool for frosted vinyl without premask. It push the water behind the film alot better than any other squeegee.

I do those jobs all very often. Cheap calendared vinyl, wet apply, no premask, cut to size. Or frosted vinyl with the same technique.

I have several big squeegee. But to mount a 4x8 film on a rigid sheet is a PITA. I use it daily for smaller stuff and applying premask tho.
