  1. New print head printing fine lines next to artwork

Can wipe the contacts clean with a swab and some solvent ink cleaner if you avoid the stuff plastic tab. Don't want that coming unglued. Also look for bent or mangled pins.
  2. New print head printing fine lines next to artwork

Nice clean lines like that indicate it's firing at weird times. Double check cables to see if they are well seated in their connectors and there's no trace of ink at the electrical contacts. Had an Epson P5000 that had what I thought was a negligible droplet of ink on one of the head cables...
  3. Need Help MIMAKI UCJV 300-160 (banding issues (waves or alternating lines) despite the print heads and feed tests showing 100% results.

If you have a colorimeter, that can be a huge help. If MAPS in auto is having issues, can try selecting a pattern, or disabling it. For me, lots of times I have issues with Adobe formats and I have to convert them to more basic raster types (Tiff, JPG, etc) and things improve massively. Not...
  4. What's this and why'd it fall off my printer carriage?

What model of printer is it?
  5. Advice for starting local print shop

Don't buy a JFX500, those are hard to move and setup. I almost regretted buying that.
  6. Software for Summa S3 Cutters

Yeah, been looking at the data stream from the serial/usb converter. Just don't have a code list for things like triggering flexcut, sheetcut and tangential specific commands. Can't find a lookup anywhere.
  7. Software for Summa S3 Cutters

Running into similar stuff but using an old original S series. Works great with the exception of some home commands and the like. Email the guys at FutureSoft (VinylMaster's authors) and they tend to get drivers up pretty quickly. Love the cutter, hating the software. Been looking, but is there...
  8. S120T How Do I Turn Off Origin Reset?

Might need to swap processing software for running the cutter, just running Vinylmaster. Dirt cheap and does most of what I need (and is stupid simple to use) but lacks some of the 'fancier' features.
  9. S120T How Do I Turn Off Origin Reset?

Yeah, I can stop it by unclamping the media, but it's less than ideal having to watch the thing like a hawk.
  10. Mimaki JFX 200-2513

Can also adjust the capping station height on these pretty easily, since the station is motorized. Covered in the service manual, if you have access to one. Checked our JFX200s (EX and older non-EX) and both chains are pretty snug. The links are designed to snap apart to access the stuff inside...
  11. S120T How Do I Turn Off Origin Reset?

Tried scrolling through menus, Summa Cutter Control and looking at the manual to no avail. Just wanting the cutter to park the head without pulling back the sheet after it finishes. When using a cut that lets stickers and such fall out, the leftover webbing gets caught up in the rollers and all...
  12. WELD ON 4 Starting in FEB. Methylene Chloride: Regulation Under the Toxic Substances Control Act

Main thing is the fumes, skin contact is pretty rough as well. The stuff loves to evaporate, so getting it to stay in a syringe bottle is the trick in the first place. It's unlabeled because in 36 hours it'll be empty. :p
  13. WELD ON 4 Starting in FEB. Methylene Chloride: Regulation Under the Toxic Substances Control Act

Industry specific uses tend to still be acceptable, just how it's sold (no retail sale/display) and such, as well as some suppliers might stop carrying it. It's a crazy useful chemical used in tons of processes (I had to double check, since I am used to it being called DCM/dichloromethane), so...
  14. Right to Repair Act

Yup, I keep CA residents I can bug to get stuff like that. Usually they don't want to fuss and give access.
  15. Mimaki JFX 200-2513

Wow, that is pretty loose. Might have need a new chain stiffener, or a link might've snapped out of place. Check to make sure each link is clicked in properly. As for ink buildup on carriage, pretty typical, unless it keeps doing it a lot. Wipe it off and see how quickly it returns.
  16. Xante Printers—Ink Usage and Printhead Replacement

Inkcups printers look like beasts, however, I have yet to see one in person. Not sure how their US support is either, but OKC seems to be BFE for most printer manufacturers/distributors.
  17. Xante Printers—Ink Usage and Printhead Replacement

With any inkjet printer, the more you run them the better. Stagnation is the enemy, and the more uptime you take advantage of, the less of a pain maintenance becomes both financially and physically.
  18. need flatbed UV recommendation

But how many heads can you add? *stares longingly at the crate of 75 Gen5's*
  19. help... I had installed new tx 800 print head to my Chinese UV Printer, but no ink coming out

Lots of boards for those heads, so it really comes down to you putting in the time and checking. Seeing as it's a generic Chinese printer, good luck finding diagrams. Cheap machines are great, but the money you save is traded for time troubleshooting when things go wrong. Likely going to be a...
