  1. Anyone install letters on this surface and live to tell about it?

Interior office wall - wants to install lettering and logo on this surface. Looks like job I don't want or is it no problem? There are 12 letters 12" to 18" high plus a rectangular word panel 6" x 45". Naturally the letters would be stud mounted. Not sure about drilling in to this material...
  2. Why not use exterior paint for interior wall for vinyl adhesion

I have a client who wants vinyl wall graphics in his new office. We waited a week after the wall was painted and tested some different vinyls on it. The test pieces failed. We don't have any problems putting vinyl lettering on exterior signs that we paint with latex exterior house paints. Is...
  3. First time PVC user - Can I flat glue small pieces to wood signs/ exterior

Try to avoid using very dark colors on 1/4" PVC. I'm assuming you are painting the PVC. The 1/4" thickness can become distorted when in direct direct sunlight. White or light colors are OK.
  4. Material and install recommendation

That looks like a hard coated eps foam sign. Do not try to screw into it. If you pull off the glued letters without breaking the hard coating over the foam you should be able to glue on a new lightweight face if the new face is small enough, maybe 2'x2'. Getting off the old adhesive from the...
  5. Installing signs without a permit

This is my concern- that the municipality would hold me accountable for the sign being un-permitted and make me take it down or suspend my license. Then the customer would be mad at me also in addition to being in trouble with the city. I guess the only way I would know for sure if this would...
  6. Installing signs without a permit

We have always done things on the "up and up" when it comes to business. We are licensed to install signs in several counties. Sign permitting has gotten much more complicated and expensive in the past few years. I'm tired of losing business to other companies who undercut our pricing and...

  10. Remote Access

I use Splashtop for remote access to two of my office computers. I used to use LogMeIn but Splashtop is cheaper and works perfectly.
  11. Windows 10 updates

This makes sense to me. I'll try it if it happens again, which is hopefully never. My tech person said I should be checking for updates manually every week or at lease once a month to avoid problems. But it seems to me that the updates are what's causing the problems.
  12. Windows 10 updates

I am running Windows 10 home. Is there a way to tell if my programs are blocking updates?
  13. Windows 10 updates

Recently had to call my computer tech person to fix a problem with our in-house computer network. For some reason we couldn't share files between computers. I was told that because I was missing updates all sorts of problems occurred which was the cause of losing the network. How can that be...
  14. Anyone seeing any signs of shortages?

Having a hard time getting PVC sheets in black, 3/4" thick.
  15. Pricing Gold Leaf

Surface gilding typically has a matte look compared to water gilding which has a mirror finish. Are you putting the gold on the outside of the glass? Back in the day when we did water size gilding on glass it took about 6 hours to lay the gold, paint the backing, clean off the excess gold, paint...
  16. blocky serif similar to Rockwell

That's very odd. Looks almost like a ransom note where somebody cut and pasted different letters together. The "i" almost looks like an upside down number 1.
  17. Anyone going to ISA in Orlando in April?

We registered to attend the exhibition floor. I got an email from the ISA last week saying they were taking appropriate precautions to safeguard the show. We may decide not to go, will wait and see. I am wondering if there will be the usual presence of the vendors from China as there is usually...
  18. Window sign

Here in Florida in summertime we deal with moisture forming on glass when the outside temp is very hot & humid and the inside temp is air conditioned. You could be looking at a similar situation with moisture forming on the glass due to high humidity.
  19. TBT

Looks right in line with today's new "distressed style" fonts.:)
  20. Letters on a curved wall

Need to put 14" x 14" wide letters on a curved wall. Letter stroke about 1" at widest part. Want to use metal letters but the letters would have to be flexible enough to conform to the curve. Looking at the site plan showing the 13' wall radius there will be an issue with a gap of about 1/4" on...
