  1. national permit runners for sign industry

I recently obtained a permit in Jacksonville through a painful process. The property is located in an "Overlay" district. In order to get a ground sign, 4'x4' on two posts I had to go through these departments for approval: 1. zoning, 2. traffic, 3. landscape, 4. overlay, 5. historic, 6 (last...

Looking for wholesale manufacturers of outdoor enclosed readerboards with locking cabinets, track, letters, whole 9 yards. 4-5 " changeable letters - not electronic.
  3. HDPE sign installation

We are working on a bid for an apartment complex that will require several signs made out of HDPE, commonly known as color core. We have very limited experience with this material. The material does not accept glue so we were wondering about installing the small signs, if VHB tape will work? The...
  4. 3M 1170 translucent by the yard?

I believe it is 3M Series 1170 for applying onto reflective backgrounds. This is what I need by the yard.
  5. 3M 1170 translucent by the yard?

I have to make 5 street signs and need about 4 yards of the 3M translucent blue to cut the letters out and apply to the reflective white street blade. Grimco only sells 50 yds. I didn't see it at Fellers. Any suggestions where I can buy it by the yard? Thanks.
  6. Liability insurance, Workers Compensation, guidance needed!

Not sure about New York but in Florida if you are structured as a corporation, officers can elect to be exempt from Work Comp coverage. Employees must be covered. We lease our employees and they get WC through the leasing company.
  7. Vinyl coming off wall

If you are going to repaint, why not just get the same color of the wall mixed up in an exterior grade paint, semi gloss? We stick vinyl on exterior signs all the time without issue.
  8. Getting deposits from contractors

Regarding the NTO (Notice to Owner) on some of the contracts I am seeing the owner may be a government entity or a large corporation. Knowing how to reach the "owner" is my question. What little experience I've had in these situations the GC doesn't give out owner's information. How would I find...
  9. Getting deposits from contractors

I'm getting jobs from building contractors to supply and install ADA interior signs in new buildings. So far these are $5 to $10k jobs with not a lot out of pocket costs. The contractors pay on a monthly basis after a request for payment is submitted through their website software. The software...
  10. Palight

We haven't used it lately but when it first came out we tried routing it and did not like it for routed work. The edges had a lot of "fuzz" on them. We prefer Excel PVC for routing as it seems denser. The edges are cleaner on cut out letters.
  11. EstiMate and Windows 10

Will EstiMate software run correctly on Windows 10? I have been using this software for several years. I tried going on their website to find answers but their "support" link does not seem to be working.

I don't know what I did but for some reason this Signs 101 web page is looking like the whole page is magnified. I must have clicked something but I can't seem to get back to normal. All my other website pages are displaying correctly. Help me get normal again. Thank you.
  14. Give credit where credit is due Signs365

I've been using them for over 10 years and am very happy with their service and products. One thing that I do have an issue with is the printing on clear for back lit signs. They usually double print the colors so they don't get washed out. But the last sign we had printed the colors really...
  15. Best way to deal with companies wanting to be listed on your Insurance?

The only time we get a charge from our insurance company is when we have to add a new company as an "additional insured" with some legaleze clauses behind it. They charge around $25 for this. Otherwise they send a COI out whenever we need them to pretty quickly.
  16. CorelDraw: Back of Layer Question

I have a similar issue when I try "page up" to move an image to the top of the layer. If you click "save" after doing the page up, it goes to the correct layer. It seems to be a bug in the program.
  17. tablet aid for sales and networking

Looking for recommendations for a handy tablet to take on sales calls or networking to show photos of signs, take notes, retrieve information from office, etc. Thanks.
  18. Decorative routing into ACS? Does it work?

Is your router accurate enough to do this? Sometimes the routed material will be inconsistent in the routed depths. If your material is thinner in places or your router table is not perfectly level it could cause these inconsistencies. Most of the time this issue is minute and not noticeable but...
  19. 3m ij35c peeling off. interior latex paint. what to do?

Is there some kind of paint that I can buy to paint the wall I want to wrap. I've been testing a sample of a print I bought from Signs365 back in Dec. 2015. It is holding up well in my test area. However I don't know exactly what kind of paint is on this wall. Rather than going with the vinyl...
