This is an oxymoron right? A photo lab looking to do lawn signs? I have an R-Series...3 pass profiles all day long on yard signs..A hybrid is usually the way to go for lawn signs. I would have never purchased this printer if that was its main responsibility...there are faster printers on the...
check the value of the black, it could be too much ink...is it hot in your print room? could be static. I have not used heat transfer material with a latex printer so Im treating it as if it where vinyl. Looks like bleed which could be too much ink, or not enough optimizer; could be black head...
It may not even be a firmware update causing tis...it could just be coincidental with their new software release...every printer has tis built in. This way you know when to have a pm service performed.
A software rip would not do that. A firmware update to the printer absolutely can. Manufacturers have timer running on all of your parts to let you know when they have exceeded their life.
everything coming from onyx should be set to left margin. Do not try to use onyx to "move" the print on the board. That needs to be done at the printer. If you do it through onyx it will create imaginary margins and throw things off randomly.

You will want the EOT and the kiss cutting tool. The EOT will cut material more intricate and the kiss cut is super fast at finishing vinyl(better than your 140)
Look at the reservoir...there is an oring that may be acting up. If you know how to separate the reservoir clean, dry replace...bring a 500, how old is the filter behind the ink box..I’d replace that as well.
