Kind of a tricky question...some have multiple locations but don't manufacture at all of them (Federal Heath, Chandler Signs, etc.). YESCO and Pattison are huge.
It's meant for concrete/flat surfaces. If you had really flat ground and really hard (it weighs 1400 pounds), maybe. But the tires are perfectly smooth and wouldnt get good traction.
Thanks...the van pulls really well, can barely tell is back there. Brakes well, too.
As far as the upper- and lower-case, it's their 'standard' layout for each brand.
Used it for the first time yesterday. For these types of installs, it's perfect. Definitely wouldn't have wanted to do these off a ladder. Did the dimensional letters and four 16" x 8'-0" panels.

The thing is pretty difficult to drive backwards in confined spaces. The front wheels swivel, so it takes a minute for them to line up and for the lift to get going the right direction. Anyway, got it painted up, picked up a little 5x8 trailer and put together some ramps. I'll be using it on my...
Silicone is available as acetic cure and neutral cure (recommended when working with masonry). GE sells these as GE I and GE II, respectively.
While it has adhesive qualities, silicone is technically a sealant - not an adhesive. If you've ever removed acrylic signs that were installed with...
So at what point is it "right" or "wrong" to install a sign so that it follows the angle of the structure it's on? 4° is right, 5° is wrong?
Some are saying definitively in this thread "this is how it should or shouldn't be done" as if there are rules written somewhere on the matter. Opinions...
To reiterate, we're talking about a parking garage.
Virtually any building that has a parking garage is going to have a property manager. That property manager, or those delegated by the property manager, have the final say on everything from signage to landscaping to when you can perform your...
On the flip side....here's another classic installers conundrum I've ran into more than once:
You have a long set of letters to install on a brick wall...
You level and hang your pattern...
You realize the baseline of the letters on the pattern, although level, isn't following the mortar...
You bet.
There are instances where the slope is very gradual and installing the sign level makes the sign look off. Those are the situations that bug me. But that's the benefit of ensuring the customer makes the call. If they tell you they want them installed level, that...
I've had more than one customer come in with a level to check if a sign is truly level. In one case it was because the sign was rectangular but then the end had a large swoosh as part of the logo. It made the sign look left-heavy and even though I knew it was level, it did look off-level. It was...
I've done quite a few parking garages and this is typical of every single one - without exception. Whether the signs should be truly level or 'look level' is a call that should be made by the customer, not the installer.
It's one of the first conversations I have when installing parking garage...
I didn't price the full size vans so I can't speak to how the prices compare. I wanted something that would carry 4x8 sheets and would still fit in a parking garage. This is about the only van that fits that description. You can find this online, but the Metris starts right at 30k. Mine was a...
