I think it depends on the look of your shop. Since ours is a warehouse in an industrial area, people are less inclined to walk in. We're appointment only also.
In your case, have a sign "appointment only"
At our old place, we'd get people walking into the warehouse, rather than the office. It...
Workflows for specific tasks can be like
Always use these tools, we should do this task during these times, because of this reason.
Here's a general layout of a process for your whole day (keeping in mind, this is very general)
Get to work, switch all machines, let warm up.
check emails, get...
By having systems and processes in place.
People may laugh at this for a 1 man show, but if you follow a system, it helps. if you ever hire again, you have something in place already.
have workflows set up for each product you do. follow those workflows.
Don't be afraid to invest in software...
The simplest way i can explain it:
the ICC profile is the colour look up table for your RIP to understand which CMYK values your printer needs to hit the colours in the artwork.
The media profile is your whole printer & media calibration. This includes ink restrictions, ink limits, print...
That's a good amount of volume to justify the Colorado.
It's the best wide format on the market. As long as you know the limitations of UV inks. Although the uvgel is a lot more stretch vs normal UV.
You'll be using it on Onyx or caldera.
I wouldn't be using it on Flexi.
All canon techs...
Well the mat will get messy. then you need to vacuum it clean, which gets harder with aluminium shavings.
When you remove the mat, there's chances the aluminium will make it to the belt.
Honesty, you should get a demo. It will really tell you if it's the machine for you.
Out of all the...
No, there's a sacrificial mat you put on top of the belt. If you see the videos. The belt is grey, the mat is green.
This protects the belt from getting damages by the router.
You put it on for routing.
Which means, you cannot use the belt to unload the sheets like you would for coropast etc.
The table is very flat on the colex. It's actually milled by the machine itself. (kind of)
They attach a gantry to it and mill it flat and mill the vacuum channels.
But if its mostly aluminium, id still go towards a cnc. not that the colex can't do it, its just messier and harder to clean on a...
Are you talking about normal Aluminium or Aluminium composite?
If it's aluminium (not composite) i would be looking at the shop sabre pro. Not that the colex can't do it, it's more the fact you're doing a lot of volume and that would suite a proper router.
The colex can do the job, but the...
create a blank file with the same size in both Ai and Ps and see if it does that.
then i'd check your quickset you're using. could be importing it and resizing the height only.
Throw them in the bin.
honestly. just in case for what? they need more? They'll pay and receive more. what if there's a slight revision?
besides, they appreciate having spares.
i do when i order high quantities.
& nothing frustrates me more when i order 1000 of something. i get 1000 and 10 in...
Seriously, you keeps 1's and 2's of extras?
Give them to the customer.
We'll print 1 of something, and give the customer more if there is extra space in the area.
If it's small die cut stickers, and they want 100, but to fill up the row it's 120. they get 120 unless 1 or 2 get ruined.
oh trust me, there's no alternatives for some of the stuff that are just win and mac drivers :( I actively look. - I do have multiple ubuntu desktop VMs just to test things out.
Apart from using Caldera, my other hardware wont work.
E.g All my Barberi equipment.

This to me has always been a neat idea. And as there has been some topics on it lately, i'd love to compile a list of useful software one could use to run a small Print / Design shop.
Email Client:
-Thunderbird - has come a long way
Word processing:
- LibreOffice
Design software:
(Raster)
