If the head is under warranty HP will send a new one. There are dates on them and then they can check to see how much printing has been done with it. If within those guidelines they sent a new one out. We always keep a spare set on hand and change them out so we can keep printing then deal...
I got one of the first ones when they were released. Great machine but slow. Its been a few years but a 4'x8' CMYK print takes about 18 minutes or so. This is entry level as it has 2 heads and the speed is slower. We upgraded to an EFI which has 6 heads and print a sheet in about 7 minutes...
Here is the work around. 1) Find you a tech that is cool as sh!t. 2) You plug in your laptop and they remote into that laptop and open their program which allows access to the service menu. 3)fix your printer.
general rule of thumb on standard material is I take my cost per square foot, add in the ink cos(about $0.25/sqft) then add 175%. this gives some room to work with when they have quantity if you want to give a price break.
Stay away from Direct Color. There are a few in town that the businesses keep coming to us to get stuff printed because their printers are always down. We run small format UV with 2 Mimaki machines being the 3042 and 6042. The 6042 we have had for about 6 years and only had 1 tech visit in...
I always tell people that mesh banners need to have webbing in the seams to be able to last. In house we stitch them in but depending on if we order them in for size or quantity they heat weld them in. Taping a seam on a mesh banner is not going to last long you need the extra support.
I run the EFI 16H that has the 3M flex inks in it. Not sure if they are flexible enough for thermoforming. EFI make the 1625-SD that is meant for thermoforming. I would imagine anyone that has that printer is probably printing for themselves only though.
Mutoh makes great printers. It was our first and ran for 7 years with the same print head. We got a second one as we were busy enough to need the two. It is still running great after 5 years. I finally got rid of the original one as it started to finally start printing bad but after 9 years...
there is some noise not sure if it is fans or not. Just remember that all of the electronics and the computer are still on so to monitor the status even when "asleep" so there could be small fans running. As far as breakers I only turn them off when doing work on the machine which is rarely...
I personally would stay with EFI and look into the 16H. It is a lot better than the 1625. We had a 1625 and upgraded to the 16H and its night and day difference.
Everyone is talking about a smell but on both of our EFI printers I smell very little. I have more smell that comes off our ecosolvent printer than 2 large format EFI UV printers. Guess it comes down to how much air flow your building has.
Depends on what your wanting to print but we have 6 in total and would not want to be without them. Printing vinyl then applying to large sheets sucks especially when you have 50 sheets of coroplast to do 2 sided.
I have had a 24F since they came out. Actually I have the first one ever installed as I was part of the Early Adopter on the machine with EFI.
That print profile will only be good if being viewed from a long distance. 95% of what we print is POP.
Inkset we are running is the POPV2

The absolute best way to do it is flame polishing but you have to use the proper gasses. Get an Acetylene torch setup with Hydrogen and Oxygen as the two gasses. We have polished 1/2" thick 3'x4' signs in about 5 minutes a piece. The edge comes out like glass. Wheel polishing would be the...
