  1. Summa S class maestro’s needed

It’s currently through USB for that reason but we have also tried Ethernet/IP
  2. Summa S class maestro’s needed

That’s great Frank I’ll try that reset first thing, the one I did today was just on the actual summa. When the knife goes down it’s the full mechanics that lower, it’ll be 50% through a job (not always 50%), have the blade down and then the head will just shoot off to one side as the pinch...
  3. Summa S class maestro’s needed

So we have an S2 T160, had a call in for it for about a month but no tech as of yet (thank you coronavirus). Coincidentally, this is the busiest the summa has ever been (thank you coronavirus) basically, it freezes a LOT. (That’s why we put the initial call in but it has since gotten a lot...
  4. Need Help Tiling wall graphics won't line up

What kind of HP are you running?
  5. Do you do anything special for blade disposal

We have a sharps box, has a little flap on it so even if it falls over the blades don’t spill anywhere. Once it’s full you can pop it down with some force and that’s it locked (apparently). Though we’re still on the first one and it’s been a couple years lol
  6. Need Help HELP: Roland sold me a defective printer and I lost $750,000

Took me approx 1 minute to find this online; “In high-speed mode a full bed takes about 20 minutes. In production mode it’s 40 minutes and in high-quality it’s just under an hour. That’s approximately 12m2, 6m2 or 4m2 per hour, which is significantly less than the alternatives.” I’m going to...
  7. S Class - how many pinch rollers do you need?

Do they just help with the tracking or can you up the speed a bit and still keep everything running smoothly with the extra rollers?
  8. S Class - how many pinch rollers do you need?

Our Summa S2 T160 has had a few problems as of late, as we’ve been running a LOT of floor vinyl recently, I’ve found that sometimes (even calibrated) it has a bit trouble with keeping the media flat enough to read the barcode properly and then fails. The media is 54”, I have 4 pinch rollers...
  9. Anyone else went from crazy slow to crazy busy?

Exactly what bannertime said, it just cuts squares/oblongs lol. I have managed to set it up before so that I can run a roll on the summa then loaded it on the xy and cut the kiss cut roll into singles. But you’d definitely need both a contour cutter and an xy cutter. If you have any specific...
  10. Anyone else went from crazy slow to crazy busy?

Blessing and a curse of the Colorado is that it tells you when all those queue’d up jobs will finish if you were up for staying all night and loading rolls lol
  11. Anyone else went from crazy slow to crazy busy?

I was hoping all the down time would give me time to get all my media’s profiled and get a few extra print modes, alas I’m stuck with the 2/5 I’ve made for them all lol
  12. Question Keep Killing Blades

Is it maybe the materials? Have you tried a regular vinyl with a textured (anti slip) laminate? Sounds like it’ll be a bit easier on your blades!
  13. Anyone else went from crazy slow to crazy busy?

We got a Flexa Miura II, it’s a bit more manual than the fotoba and you literally have to set all your blades in position then manually adjust the blade pressure but once you’ve done 5-6 rolls you can judge it pretty easy. Tracking isn’t an issue at all either, stays within ~1mm over a whole...
  14. Anyone else went from crazy slow to crazy busy?

We looked at a fotoba and honestly the price wasn’t much different to a summa F1612 which put us off. Did some digging around and got one for 1/3 of the price of the fotoba. Doesn’t come with all the bells and whistles but does exactly what we need and has been a workhorse. Cuts a roll of 20...
  15. Anyone else went from crazy slow to crazy busy?

Don’t know about you guys but I think this is the busiest we’ve been. Only down side is everybody wants all their stuff yesterday, as per usual! We went from printing about 600sqm in the whole of February to printing 600sqm (6500sqft) a day currently. All I can say is our Colorado doesn’t know...
  16. Summa 160 S2 doesn't start at beginning of roll

Ours is just intermittently dodgy. My favourite one is when you load a nice fill 50m roll, find the first barcode, wander off then come back and it’s froze during the Stage where it tests the length of the roll and has spit the entirety of the roll out the front end. I do catch it 9/10 times...
  17. Summa 160 S2 doesn't start at beginning of roll

I haven’t really had this problem as most of our work is barcode related. Do you have the front sensor turned on? At least that way it’ll know where the media starts/ends. If it’s any consolation, our one is a huge PITA just now. Every now and then I’ll load it, line up the barcode, pull up...
  18. Slitting Options...

A band saw (with a new blade) might not be a horrible shout. We tried it recently. We were running full rolls of floor vinyl, then slicing them down into small rolls so they could be used as tape (branded obviously). Worked great. An XY cutter with a takeup would also suit your needs. And then...
  19. Eco-solv vs Latex

There’s about a billion posts regarding this issue. To sum up the main points; Simply put, it’s down to preference. Both have their pros and cons and it’s down to your individual needs. (Such as latex not needing to degas before laminating, depends how patient you are). Though eco solvent has...
  20. Opinion Rule of thumb on lamming heat

We pretty much leave our laminator on 40° Celsius because I cba changing it, never get any slivering (UV prints) and have never had any issues. Also helps when loading the new roll of laminate, I put it on, leave it on a heated roller for a minute for any wrinkles to come out then hit play...
