  1. Lamination Cost and Pricing....

We pretty much laminate everything as standard but have a sqm price for lam and no lam. Honestly we don’t add that much extra for laminate because the vinyl price is already pretty high. We also have two laminators (one for standard lam and one for the good stuff) which makes my life a lot...
  2. PERFORATED VINYL.. WHAT THE HECK..

I see your caps lock is broken. Do you usually go around shouting at everything? as mentioned, window perf looks crappy until installed. If yours looks crappy after install. Try a different profile? That’s as far as I’m willing to share because I only keep my special secrets for PM’s.
  3. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Yeah fully agree. Think he has the right intentions. This is just an odd forum and people act a lot differently here than anywhere else I’ve been lol. I had a chat and he does genuinely seem to want to help; just seemed to be a bit full on which people don’t tend to respond very well too. Worth...
  4. S80600 or HP 365L for a wallpaper mural startup

Top advice there from someone with experience! Bly has tried Epson, HP and a Colorado lol
  5. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

What’s the chances that Robert is secretly Toad?
  6. S80600 or HP 365L for a wallpaper mural startup

Yeah we have a 1640, inks are just shiny so I wouldn’t look at wallpaper lol. I can pretty much guarantee you’ll get excellent results but yeah, pricey! Though we factored in everything and have saved a LOT due to the lower ink/maintenance costs and the print speeds are crazy. We’ve been running...
  7. Illustrator to Onyx to Summa

Always better when it’s free too! As i said, doable in onyx but a bit more screwing around.
  8. S80600 or HP 365L for a wallpaper mural startup

A lot of threads on here about HP’s having trouble with consistent tiling and/or colour consistency. What’s UV like for wallpaper? Has a lot of the benefits of both of the technologies
  9. Illustrator to Onyx to Summa

Why not just also get winplot? (Free on the summa website). You can then just go from illy to winplot and don’t need to mess with any settings in onyx I was using onyx but the cut server was a bit of a PITA and I needed to change the settings on the summa in the cut server to cut to usb...
  10. Extra S class 2 pinch rollers

The whole thing. We currently have 4 and want 6. The company that quoted them are the ones that actually sold us the summa so *hoping* they know what they’re talking about. Ours are in £ but they sound a fair bit cheaper! Total £160 for everything so assuming they’ve quoted the wrong parts?
  11. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Admittedly I haven’t read a few of the most recent posts but the sense I get from Robert is that your questions/practices are pretty dated. One, right off the bat. You sign off every post with your name, anyone in the modern age knows you have your name on every post so the extra sign off just...
  12. Extra S class 2 pinch rollers

So we got a quote after speaking to our rep about extra pinch rollers for the summa (S2 T160). the quote says “pinch roller assy D60 and D620” and “pinch roller set of 2 and 2 clips” can someone just confirm they’re quoting us for the right thing? Do the S class use the same pinch rollers as...
  13. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

I think we’re a couple couches in a small office away from “and how does that make you feel?”
  14. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Most of my customers seem to be with the times. Nobody wants to phone up for a chit chat any more or pop in and discuss things. We get an email with a spec and everything else is dealt with via email generally. and that’s design jobs. Jobs where customers generate their own artwork. They do...
  15. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Me: so what prompted you to get this sign made? Customer: well it’s a disabled parking space and it needs one me: ok, but does this sign really matter to you? Customer: No. I just need it me: no. I won’t accept that. It has to be deeper than this. Customer: bye
  16. Onyx won't send files down to Mimaki UCJV anymore!

Try saving your print settings as a backup (I.e create a print install file) then load that printer as an *extra* printer then switch over the licence from the old one to the new one and see if that lets you print. We’ve been having trouble with our Colorado recently and I get the error #4...
  17. Question Is there an action, software, plugin etc to automatically add dims to a image?

I think I worked it out at around 57m/almost 2300 inches. which should be big enough for most jobs lol. That’s approx 10x bigger than the previous largest size but they’re saying 100x bigger on their release notes (100x bigger than their “default” canvas size though, carefully worded)
  18. Question Is there an action, software, plugin etc to automatically add dims to a image?

That script looks like it does exactly what you’re after, gonna check it out myself. I have a little tip for doing something along these lines but in vast quantities. Though it will just be a string of text so should just be used for basic needs, would like to see what you guys can come up with...
  19. Question Onyx, Summa and Roll to Roll

I think if you use the plugins they have for illy and Corel you can get the marks even closer but the amount of different jobs we do that need cut on the summa mean it would probably need someone sitting there all day making cut files. Happy enough with the marks as close as I can make them...
  20. Adobe Illustrator 24.2 (CC 2020) Update

Are they also updating indesign to follow suit? I’ve always wondered about their 102” (or whatever it was) artboards. The amount of times the other designer sent me an artwork that had to be half size and never bothered to let me know it was half size
