  1. Latex L260 / 26500 hard drive cloning

So far I've removed the spare mainboard/motherboard from the spare L260. I was surprised to see it has NO ram slots nor ram - unlike the L25500s which has a 512 meg chip. I'll swap them over tomorrow. Undoing the connector for the OMAS is a delicate couple of steps - but no problem.
  2. Latex L260 / 26500 hard drive cloning

Quote: "I wouldn't waste too much time on it, you may not be successful on it." That's the normal approach. "waste" is relative to what is gained or lost. I'm happy to 'spend' some time, seeing if the outcome might be positive, or what else we might learn. "Success" is relative to what is...
  3. Latex L260 / 26500 hard drive cloning

Good point. I've been doing other stuff today, but will undo the other one and try a swap tomorrow. I might also see if Selfimage is capable of cloning the L260 HD onto a spare HD, as well, since Clonezilla would not.
  4. Latex L260 / 26500 hard drive cloning

Peter - do you think that's more likely a problem than the hard drive? Thanks for the thought.
  5. Latex L260 / 26500 hard drive cloning

Thanks - I have a spare heater unit still in the other 260 here... and 2 of them in 25500s I'd pulled apart, if they're any use to you! I'm only looking for a L260 hard drive that works!
  6. Latex L260 / 26500 hard drive cloning

Thanks - I have the service manual - and also spare donor machine with mainboard - just that it also has a HD that is no good. I'm in Australia - I can't see the new heads - now past their date - selling for 250 pounds, nor even dollars - not when chinese clones are miles cheaper... although...
  7. Latex L260 / 26500 hard drive cloning

Thanks, Peter. Yes, I'm aware that the ISS has an EPROM with a clone of the important information from the HD on it. I had an ISS on our old L25500 die a few years ago. I put another ISS board in, and then had to go into diagnostics and tell it which was the correct data. Sadly I got it...
  8. Cnc router software

Most people use the software that comes with their router - for starters. Fabricating acrylic letters is a huge learning curve, not simply a press-button job. If you've never used a router before, I suggest you set your sights on simpler things, until you get some experience with your own...
  9. Glueing clear acrylic sheet perfectly clearly?

I did buy some in the end - but it was still a worthwhile experiment, and worth asking... Thanks.
  10. Latex L260 / 26500 hard drive cloning

Has anyone successfully cloned their latex 260 hard drive to a fresh hard drive that did not come from HP ? I'm trying to get more life from ours as I still have 27 ink carts, 12 heads, and 3 head cleaning carts to use up, and the economy, with Covid, does not allow for a new machine purchase...
  11. Mimaki CG130 reverse speed

Mine is slow to reverse after plotting, but quick after reading rego marks.
  12. Glueing clear acrylic sheet perfectly clearly?

Thank you. I am aware of many of the 'dangers' of the product - as well as its uses. I am surprised to see they call it MEK though. It is NOT MEK, and the inclusion of it in that statement leads me to wonder what other pieces of fiction the story contains? The majority of acrylic glues used to...
  13. Glueing clear acrylic sheet perfectly clearly?

Thanks - I've just been offered an offcut of 20mm so I'm set.
  14. Glueing clear acrylic sheet perfectly clearly?

Hi All, 8 years ago a customer wanted some 20mm thick clear acrylic, with a half-depth 1" rebate all round, and a design lasered on the bottom. We have 20mm white, black, and opal, but not clear. The job did not warrant buying a big sheet. So had a go at gluing two 10mm sheets together. And...
  15. Lasering Thermal Transfer Material

Use laser compatible Heat Transfer Vinyl - it's polyurethane. BUT beware the burned residue can contaminate the upper surface, and affect adhesion so after 10 washes it starts to let go. I have essentially given up on lasering it and go back to using plotted vinyl - it's so much cleaner, and...
  16. 10m coroplast hole punch recommendation

Charge $1.50 - $2.00 per hole, and do them however you wish, but a rough hole gets disguised once the grommet is in there.
  17. Question Help with HP Latex 280 Update* Trailing cable.

That looks a bit like a SCSI cable - but I may be wrong... How on earth did it get torn? Mouse plague eaten it?
  18. Question Warping Substrate - HP Latex 365

I keep 3 metal clamps, like big bulldog clamps, that I hang from the front when starting - and you can move them up the 2 side edges as it comes out, until you have enough to put on the take-up reel. One in each corner and one in the middle.
  19. Mimaki CG-SR III Feedback?

We bought a faulty CG-SR11 a couple of years ago. It was a great plotter for just vinyl lettering. Provided you get Finecut software with it - otherwise it's useless. I later got the cropmark detection problem fixed, and really like the plotter. We have 2 old Rolands as well - I'd say this is...
