We use the newest version of Onyx and keep it current with a contract.
If you upgrade, be sure your machines have profiles available. With the newest Onyx one of our older Mimaki plotters is no longer supported.
We are developing new software for our business and this problem is definitely going to be included in the build.
No shows create a real problem in a busy shop.
We will be sending confirmation emails on their install appointments, and if they don't confirm the install it'll get moved back.
You need to work this problem out backwards.
Get someone in there to create a good custom color profile for your machine & Onyx.
That way every time you print you get the same nice colors.
A lot of the canned profiles can be way off, a couple hours spent on a tech to profile it is well worth...
FWIW, there are regular wraps, and then there are "seamless wraps". Setting up a wrap to print "seamlessly" takes more time to setup and material to print; if they're expecting it to be seamless, then they should be paying more. Seaming along the door pillars are common areas if they're wanting...
Anyone else experiencing lagging in Gerber Omega recently?
We are running Windows 10pro and running Gerber Omega 6.5 and for the last couple of months it has been running really slowly some days.
I notice it mostly when sending to Omega Plot, or actually sending it to plot.
Everything else is...
We use ProVehicleOutlines and their templates are pretty good.
It's kinda pricey at a yearly rate, but we download multiple templates per day so it averages out VERY cheap per vehicle overall.
I've been using it for around 15 years now with only a few oddball templates ever giving me issues...
Yes, if you're not charging rush fees and you don't have minimum order pricing you're not doing it right. It's those piddly little jobs that eat your time, and most of the time once the client hears of the rush fee the project isn't as much of a rush anymore.
One thing not mentioned here yet is the little springs that hold down the bailing arms. They can weaken over time and those don't apply enough pressure.
We store our "ready to install" jobs in the heavy duty cardboard tubes that banners come in. (cut in half). We also have a couple larger shelving units that we custom built to store flat graphics in that area.
The other GREAT news it that Epson finally is letting other techs than DecisionOne work on their printers once they get certified.
D1 sucks most of the time, especially if you are out of warranty. Our local vendor/supplier is now certified so we have someone we can trust to work on our machines...
The good news is that you can do a (simple through the machine's interface panel) ink flush and fill using just a cleaning cartridge in that spot instead of keeping it inked up with white and silver inks.
We did not EVER use the silver ink and white inks orders were only like a few times a...
If you're using vinyl for a boy scout trailer I would buy some Avery Chrome wrap vinyl by the yard and just plotter cut that. It seems to hold up well outside.
I'd use a 2080 white. Be careful stripping/installing these though as they hold airplane fuel, so torches are a no-go.
Every time we've done these type of trucks they have to be done outdoors on-site, so you might want to figure that added hassle into the equation.
Transparencies with spot colors (your cut path) will also cause issues with cut paths not working.
Onyx usually comes with sample/test print files that are set up correctly, but I am not sure if the demo does.
